With the further deepening of the world's production division of labor and the continuous deepening of participation in the global value chain, both the scale and type of China's intermediate imports have achieved rapid growth, which has played an important role in promoting the entire real economy in China. However,at present, there is a huge imbalance between the scale of China's imports of intermediate goods and productivity growth among the regions. The eastern coastal areas have taken the lead in exerting force, while the majority of the central and western regions have experienced a general "collapse." The coordinated development of regional economy is an important strategic goal pursued by China's economically efficient and sustainable development. Therefore,it is of great practical significance to study the spatial spillover effect of the import of intermediate goods on total factor productivity. This paper uses a combination of theoretical and empirical research methods to explore the spatial spillover effects of the import of intermediate goods on total factor productivity.Based on the China Customs Database, this article measures the scale of the import of intermediate goods in the 30 provincial-level administrative regions of China. The DEA-Malmquist index method was used to measure the total factor productivity index of 30 provincial administrative regions in China during 2000-2014.Finally,panel data is used to study the spatial spillover effect of the import of intermediate goods on total factor productivity. The innovations of this paper are:First,it makes up for the inadequacy of previous literature on the impact of the import of intermediate goods on the total factor productivity of enterprises from the perspective of spatial spillover;Second, the spatial spillover effect of the import of intermediate goods on total factor productivity is adopted.Third, breakthroughs have been made in the previous literature on spatial spillover effects:The gaps In the spatial weight matrix have been established using geographical boundaries as indicators. The gravity model has been used to build spatial weights based on manpower and capital.Fourthly,we study the differences in the spatial spillover effects of imports of intermediate goods on total factor productivity in different regions of China. The empirical results of this paper show that the scale of the import of intermediate goods has intra-regional/inter-regional spillover effects on TFP.The former is achieved through technological advancement, and the latter is realized through technical efficiency. The flow of capital elements across regions promotes the spatial spillover effect of the import of intermediate goods. The ability of the eastern and western regions of China to absorb the spillover efficiencies of intermediate products is stronger. Finally, this paper puts forward the following suggestions:optimize the import structure;form an echelon of intermediate goods import regions;promote the flow of regional factors.
