Technological innovations drive development.Under the complicated and highly competitive international background, technological innovation has been endowed with new missions in the new era.The ability of a single innovation subject is limited. In order to achieve better development and more abundant innovation results, innovative subjects must cooperate and innovate, exchange information and technology, and share innovation results. In this paper, the author takes the governments of prefecture-level cities in the Pearl River Delta as the research subjects and manually collects the formal and informal inter-government agreements on scientific and technological innovation cooperation to portray the innovation intensity among different regions.By use of the social network analysis software,UCINET 6.0 and GEPHI 0.8.2,the scientific and technological innovation cooperation network graph of the Pearl River Delta is plotted.According to the analysis of the topological structure of the network graph and the factional clustering of the innovation subject,it is found that with the time going by,the technological innovation cooperation network of the Pearl River Delta has become increasingly complex. The innovative entities have broken through geographical barriers and achieved cross-regional cooperation. The cooperation between innovation entities shows that the closer the resource endowment(e.g.,economic level)to the innovation subject is,the easier it is to achieve innovation cooperation.Besides, the degree of similarity between the innovation subjects is also increased to a certain extent.Based on this,in this paper, the regional innovation cooperation is analyzed from the perspective of proximity.Geographic proximity is currently the most clearly defined and most recognized proximity dimension. For the research subject of this paper, the governments of the prefecture-level cities, according to the ICA framework research, social capital and economic environment, etc.will all affect the cooperation between governments. Therefore, two proximity dimensions, the relational proximity to a certain extent representing the social capital and the proximity of economic level representing the economic environment are introduced.Though the purpose of this paper is to analyze the cooperation of scientific and technological innovation among different regions, the level of scientific research technology also influences the innovation cooperation among the governments. Therefore, the proximity dimension of scientific research technology is also introduced. Then firstly, the index variables of each neighborhood dimension are constructed;secondly,by use of the social network analysis method QAP regression, the relevant QAP regression model is constructed and the influence of the four proximity dimensions is analyzed;finally, the following conclusions are made:(1)With the increase of geographical proximity, its positive influence on regional scientific and technological innovation cooperation has gradually increased. After the critical value is exceeded, this positive influence gradually weakens. That is,there is a critical value for the influence of geographic proximity. The closer to this critical value is,the more conducive to the scientific and technological innovation cooperation between different regions will be.(2)To a certain extent, the proximity of economic level and the proximity of scientific research and technology have promoted the scientific and technological cooperation among the regions.(3)According to the analysis of the influence of all the proximity factors on the regional innovation cooperation, relational proximity shows a positive promotion of regional innovation cooperation, and,to a certain extent, the positive promotion effect of proximity can be expressed in several other proximity dimensions.
