Research On Trade Barriers Of Other BRICS Countries To China

In 2017,the 9th Meeting of the BRICS Leaders in Xiamen attracted the attention of the whole world.The BRICS have witnessed a golden decade and have made great contributions to the stability and growth of world economy.The cooperation of BRICS experienced a process of growing from scratch.Because of common characteristics,goals,and objective requirements for development,research on trade barriers of BRICS are necessary for economic and trade cooperation in the future.This paper studies the trade barriers between China and BRICS countries based on the analysis of BRICS cooperation mechanism,the achievements and the obstacles encountered.According to analysis of the trade among BRICS countries from total volume and structure,China is in a central position.Through empirical research,the paper agrees that Russia and Brazil have comparative advantages in the trade of primary products,South Africa has strong competitiveness in the trade of ore and metals,and China as well as the BRICS countries has their complementarity in the trade of agricultural raw materials and other products reduced.Based on this,the paper analyzes the forms and causes of trade friction between China and the BRICS countries.The main common causes of trade barriers among the BRICS are imbalances in trade structure,total imbalances,political & cultural factors,and personalization reasons,including natural endowments and industrial development needs.For the BRICS as a whole,anti-dumping is still the most common form of barriers,discriminatory tariff barriers still exist,the proportion of emerging trade barriers has gradually increased and customs barriers are high.As for specific countries,anti-dumping from India is particularly eye-catching,Brazil has high Green trade barriers,technical trade barriers in Russia and South Africa are on the rise.In the end,the paper gives countermeasures from the aspects of talent reserve,trade relief system construction,enterprises' awareness of raising awareness,adjustment of industrial structure and deepen cooperation.
