Evaluation And Improvement Of Energy Efficiency Of Airlines Based On DEA

In the severe situation of climate and environment problems,the improvement of energy efficiency of airlines can improve the operating level of airlines,and it is of great significance for the green development of a air transport industry.At present,due to the lack of research on the concept and influencing factors of airline energy efficiency,there are certain limitations in indicators and methods in existing studies.It is difficult to judge the energy efficiency of airlines and propose relevant improvement measures.In this context,the energy efficiency evaluation of the airlines is studied.Firstly,based on the results of existing energy efficiency research,combined with the operating characteristics of airlines,the concept of airline energy efficiency is proposed.Secondly,“multi-view and multi-factor theory” is used to analyze the influencing factors of airline energy efficiency.Finally,according to concepts and influencing factors,the energy efficiency evaluation model and evaluation index system are constructed.This model was used to analyze the energy efficiency of 12 airlines between 2010 and 2016.The static evaluation results indicate that 12 airlines have less fluctuations in overall efficiency between 2010 and 2016,but the overall efficiency of some airlines is invalid,and most of the situations are caused by invalid scale efficiency;Hainan Airlines and Southwest Airlines ranked higher in the real efficiency rankings,while China Southern Airlines,American Airlines,and JetBlue ranked lower.The dynamic evaluation results indicate that the scale efficiency of the 12 airlines showed a downward trend between 2010 and 2016.However,under the influence of technological progress and pure technological efficiency,the total factor energy efficiency has shown an upward trend.At the same time,some airlines still have problems with the lag in the introduction of new technologies and the unreasonable allocation of resources.Based on the research results,the measures to improve the energy efficiency of airlines have been proposed from both internal and external aspects.
