In all ages,both artistic creation and visual image bank on materials.Material,creativity and craft fabrication are the three elements that form a complete complex.Fiber art shows creative expressions of materials.It is a form of creation where material beauty is one of the most important part and a unique art with sense integration of touch and vision,bringing out different charm of materials.Through retrieval,it is not hard to find that many research books and thesis of fiber art study its historical development,techniques and material classification,instead of expressions of fiber material itself and aesthetic value it gives to artistic works in the artistic creation.The “soft” and “hard” integration of yarn and dried flower materials is the innovation point of this thesis.The idea of perfectly integrating these two familiar materials is inspired by my mentor Mrs.Zhao and is also another continuation and breakthrough of my creation using yarn fiber material after my bachelor-degree study.The thesis is divided into three parts of material beauty discovery,material meaning interpretation,and material soul perception to analyze and study the recreation of yarn and dried flower materials.First of all,it will introduce how I discover and learn these two materials in my life;then show the creative conversations between me and materials and shape design in the creating process;and finally lead to my thought of material quality,texture,colors and shapes as well as successive analysis from inside to outside.In this way,we will know that the value of material language is inseparable from concretely artistic works and understand the value and significance of material language in the context of artistic creation.All in all,this topic is a new pointcut for artistic research in virtue of sincerely emotional charm of yarn material and simple and natural exterior of dried flower material,which indicates that materials are the living basis and soul for expressions and creations of modern fiber art.In this thesis,I will do an open exploration of yarn and dried flower materials and work hard to make my contribution for material research and artistic creation of materials.
