Coal is China's most important basic energy and an important industrial raw material,and will maintain this status for a long time.In recent years,due to the imbalance of supply and demand,large-scale losses have emerged in the coal industry in our country.Some small and medium-sized coal mines have closed their businesses and many large-scale coal mines are in a difficult situation.At present,China's economy has shifted from a phase of rapid growth to a phase of high-quality development.Since supply-side structural reforms have continued to deepen,coal has been listed as an industry with a serious overcapacity.The coal industry needs to implement a series of tasks to de-capacity.In order to fulfill its commitments such as the Paris Agreement on Climate Change,China has been making continuous efforts to improve the ecological environment and intensifying its work on environmental protection,energy conservation and emission reduction.In the future,China will actively push forward the reduction of the total coal consumption,which will affect the development of coal enterprises tremendously.Xuzhou Coal Mining Group is a large state-owned coal enterprise with a history of one hundred years.Taking coal production as its main business,in addition to the pressure of drastic changes in the industry,Xuzhou Coal Mining Group is also faced with other difficulties,such as the depletion of resources in the coal industry,heavy historical burden,poor management and low enterprise vitality.Whether and how to perform a strategic transition is the one of the major issues that urgently need to be dealt with.This article introduces Xuzhou Coal Mining Group,reviews the history of Xuzhou Coal Mining Group's transformation,analyzes the external and internal environment using management tools such as PEST and SWOT,and arrives at a conclusion that Xuzhou Coal Mining Group needs to take the initiative to transform.In view of the current opportunities and challenges Xuzhou Coal Mining Group faces and the advantages and disadvantages of Xuzhou Coal Mining Group,this paper puts forward the strategy of carrying out the transfer of production capacity,the strategy of integration of coal and electricity,coal and chemical industry,the strategy of diversification and the strategy of development of emerging industries,using the theories of strategic management and strategic transformation.We have drawn up a general implementation plan for the leading industries that the Group needs to focus on in the future and put forward a series of safeguards to promote strategic transformation.This paper takes Xuzhou Coal Mining Group as a case,analyzes and demonstrates the key mechanisms and factors that enhance the sustainable development capability of enterprises through strategic transformation,improving the management efficiency and operational capability of enterprises.At the same time,it also hopes to set an exemplary case for other large enterprises.
