Spiral taps are suitable for tapping of internal threads,in the process of cutting the problem of wear and tear damage or even break, will affect the thread size accuracy, surface roughness and even lead to the processing thread can not be used, the tap wear and damage are closely related to the cutting force. Therefore, the study of the law of cutting force change is of great significance to the application of taps.In this paper, the cutting force model of the tapered cutting process is established, and the finite element simulation is carried out to study the variation law of cutting force.Specific research as follows:1?In this paper, the structural characteristics and cutting principle of the spiral taps are analyzed, and the oblique cutting force model is established by using the unequal shear model and Johnson-Cook constitutive model.2?Using the 3D finite element software Deform-3D to simulate the cutting process of spiral groove taps, the effects of four factors, such as rotational speed, front angle, helix angle and cutting cone angle,on cutting force were studied. The simulation results show that: In the tap diameter is relatively small case, the cutting force with the speed of change is not large; The greater the tapping angle, the smaller the tapping torque;the larger the tap angle, the smaller the tapping torque;the greater the taper angle of the tap,the smaller the tapping torque.3?The experimental platform of cutting force measurement of spiral groove taps was set up.The experimental study on 45 steel cutting was carried out.The influence of processing parameters on the experimental results was analyzed. The results show that the tapping torque decreases with the increase of the rotational speed. The reliability of the finite element simulation model is verified by comparing the experimental results with the results obtained by the finite element simulation.
