The aim of the study was to analyze the influence of different oxygen concentrations and storage time on the appearance and sensory quality of the plastid pigment of tobacco lamina. The samples from Youxi and Yongding in Hujianprovince,Malong in Yunnan province and Argentina were aged for 3 years in storage environments with 5 different oxygen concentrations and in normal storage environment. The appearance quality and sensory quality of samples were tested every 3 months to obtain the change trend. The main results were showed as following:1.The appearance quality of each tobacco lamina sample exhibited a parabolic shape changing. The comprehensive score increased gradually in the early stage and reached a peak and then decreased slowly. The change trend and extent of appearance quality in different mode showed obvious difference. The rising trends and peak values of appearance quality of samples which had oxygen treatments(T1 to T5)were more than the rising trend of CK.The decreasing trends and range of appearance quality of CK were more than samples treated with T1 to T5.The final results showed that the appearance quality of samples had treatments(T1 to T5)were improved in different extent. The appearance quality of samples with T2 and T3 treatments were superior to other samples.2.The sensory quality changing of tobacco lamina in storage environment with different oxygen concentration in 3 years:a.The sensory quality of each treated tobacco lamina samples exhibited an increasing at the early, then a peak keeping a long time and a slowly decreasing finally. The increasing trends and extents of sensory quality of T1 and T5 were more than CK.The decreasing trends and extents of sensory quality of T1 and T5 were less than CK.The optimal aging time span was between T2 and T3 which was longer 1 to 4 months than other treatment. The shortest of aging time span was between CK and T1.The peak values of treated samples showed T3>T2>T1>T4>T5>CK,and the final sensory quality scores of treated samples were T2>T3>T1>T4>T5>CK.b.T2(2%oxygen concentration)and T3(7%-9%oxygen concentration)had better effects than the other treatments.T3 showed significant effect on the quality of tobacco lamina before it reached the aging peak and T2 kept it for a longer time.c.The optimal aging time for samples from different places were various. The optimal aging time of tobacco lamina from Fujian province was earlier 1 to 2 months than the ones from Yunnan province. The optimal aging time of Argentina tobacco lamina was earlier about 6 months than the ones in China because of the climate differences in both hemispheres.
