With the increasing trade exchanges between China and Benin and the neighboring countries in west Africa, ocean shipping,as an important means of transportation.has attracted more and more attention.Considering the trade status and route operation status of China and Benin, how to design a more reasonable route has become a problem that shipping enterprises and scholars are concerned about and urgently need to solve. In the context of green shipping, more and more countries and regions are increasingly aware of the close connection between shipping industry development, and global ecological environmental protection. Some developed countries have enacted strict laws and regulations to force shipping vessels to save energy consumption and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.Due to long transportation time and large fuel consumption, ocean shipping has a serious impact on the environment. Therefore, the optimization of China-Benin ocean shipping routes with carbon emissions in mind is of great practical significance and in line with the development trend of low-carbon green shipping.Firstly, through reviewing and sununarizing the domestic and international literature on route optimization and low-carbon environmental protection, the paper proposes the optimization of China-Benin ocean shipping route considering carbon emissions.Based on the trade status and route operation status of China-Benin,considering the impact of factors such as carbon emissions, shipping distance and shipping time on operating costs,a mathematical model with minimum annual operating costs as the optimization goal is established. Then, based on the complexity and characteristics of the model, the genetic algorithm is used to solve the Chinese-Benin ocean shipping route optimization model considering carbon emissions by improving the crossover and mutation operators. Finally, combined with the shipping data of China-Benin,the genetic algorithm program written by MATLAB is used to solve the model, and the optimized route plan is obtained, which fully verified the feasibility and effectiveness of the China-Benin container shipping route optimization model considering carbon emissions. The experimental results show that the optimal route considering carbon emission can reduce environmental pollution and find a new balance between economic benefit and low carbon environmental protection. The research results can provide decision-making support for shipping enterprises to design and optimize liner routes, save fuel eonsumption and port resources, and promote the economic and trade development of China and Benin.
