With the gradual elimination of clay bricks in engineering construction,the research of a new energy-saving environmental friendly masonry materials is also under development.This kind of soil masonry not only has the advantages of high bearing capacity of traditional concrete block,but also has the outstanding characteristics such as energy saving,environmental friendly and convenient recycling.In order to enable the soil mortar block masonry to play a role in the construction of arid rural areas in Northwest China,a comprehensive systematic experiment and study should be carried out.Therefore,this paper tests and researches the compressive properties and shear resistance of the soil masonry.First,according to the relevant test specification,the paper makes the masonry compression test pieces and the shear test pieces according to the standard requirement by using two different kinds of soil mortar with the grade of MU7.5.In this paper,the static shear test of the masonry shear test specimen is carried out,and the ultimate bearing capacity and the area of the compression and shear are measured respectively.The compressive strength and the shear strength of the shear test piece are calculated.Secondly,in the experiment,the damage form,initial crack load,damage load and compressive shear strength of brickwork compression shear specimens were analyzed.In this part,the cracks of the masonry pressure-resistant specimen are mainly appear in the vicinity of the vertical central line and the junction between the side of the test piece and the corner of the test piece,then the crack develops and widens,and the test piece is divided into several independent columns.The test piece is damaged in one contact surface,and is destroyed along the mortar layer,and there is no block prior to the damage of the mortar layer.At last,the results show that the compressive strength of two kinds of soil mortar block masonry is basically in line with the requirement of regulation,and the compressive strength is increased with the increase of mortar strength,but the shear strength of the masonry is larger,and the shear strength of the small concrete block masonry is less than 20%to 40%.
