As one of the main body panels,the front fender of the car body plays an important role in the overall appearance and performance of the car.In the traditional design process of car front fender,the process parameters are usually adjusted according to experience,but this design method will cause a lot of time and resources waste.As market competition intensifies,it is required to shorten the development cycle and reduce development costs.In recent years,with the popularization and application of finite element numerical simulation technology,some technical problems in the past have been solved,especially in the process of simulation,which has high risk,high experimental cost and high requirements.The use of numerical simulation technology has become an indispensable means to improve the development level and efficiency of automotive body panels.The main purpose of this paper was to avoid obvious quality defects in the product.The main content of the research was to improve the performance indexes of the front fenders of the car in the design stage.The numerical simulation technology combined with computer finite element theory and plastic forming theory can accurately simulate the forming process of stamping parts,and can predict the possible defects of the product,which is beneficial to the rapid design and development of the front fender and its mold.The use of new technologies has greatly improved the accuracy and service life of existing molds,while increasing the success rate of mold development and design,and shortening the mold development cycle.This paper first describeed the background and research status of sheet metal forming,introduced the theoretical basis of forming simulation,and then used autoform software to simulate and analyze existing models and process parameters to obtain thin plate forming limit diagram(FLD),sheet thinning and rate and sheet boundary flow diagram.The prior art products were optimized from material utilization and stamping forming defects(wrinkling,breakage,and insufficient forming)to optimize process parameters.Based on the finite element numerical simulation technology,this paper designed and developed the front fender of the car at low cost,high efficiency,and provided optimized process parameters.Finally,the modalanalysis and static stress analysis of the mold were carried out to obtain the resonance frequency and displacement deformation to avoid the resonance situation at the stamping site,and provided theoretical data support for the actual operation.
