The painting production accounts for around 70% energy consumption and most of emissions in the whole vehicle production.The work of energy conservation and emission reduction on it is urgent and important.With the increasingly fierce competition in the market,over-capacity in automobile production appears in China.As well,many new paint shops have to delay or reduce production.For paint shop which with many thermal-equipment,the energy cost for each car will be highly increased by the mismatching between actual production and production capacity.Once the production reduced,it is not good to start a big modification to adapt to the new production needs.Therefore,under the condition of lower production,how to save energy and reduce emission on the existed painting workshop will be with great significance on the cost control,energy saving and emission reduction for the automobile enterprises.In this paper,from the analysis of energy consumption distribution in a painting workshop especially when production lower than capacity,the key areas are defined and the key points in each area were studied.Firstly,we find out the waste on production process by value stream mapping,analyse the reason and necessity of each activity,push and pull the production,and adjust the whole production organization and capacity.Secondly,according to the operation characteristics of thermal non-standard equipment,the value stream mapping are applied to the whole operation process of the equipment.In addition,the wastes produced in paint shop are optimized in the new working conditions according to their sources and characteristics.On this basis,the energy consumption of the painting workshop and the corresponding cost problems are continuously improved,and potential solutions are proposed.In addition,the roadmap of energy conservation and emission reduction in painting shop is proposed.
