Climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions such as carbon dioxide is considered to be the greatest health threat to humans in the 21 st century.Tourism is the largest industrial sector in the world today. The carbon dioxide emissions from tourism and the health problems caused by it cannot be ignored.Tourism transportation carbon emissions are the main source of carbon emissions from tourism, and it contribute more than 65% to tourism carbon emissions. Therefore,it is of great significance to explore its impact on residents' health from the perspective of tourism transportation carbon emission.Exploring the impact of tourism transportation carbon emissions on residents' health can be able to provide reference suggestions for low-carbon sustainable development of the tourism and transportation sector, improvement of residents' health level and community building of human and natural destiny.First, based on the theory of healthy human capital theory, health demand theory, low carbon development theory and sustainable development theory, this paper analyzed the mechanism of tourism transportation carbon emissions on residents' health. Then, using the “bottom-up” method tomeasure the carbon emissions of tourism traffic in the six central provinces from 2006 to 2016,and analyzed them in the perspective of time and space.Last, this paper constructed a regression model of tourism transportation carbon emissions and residents' health by using high temperature heat waves as a medium variable. And anlyzed the influence mechanism of the two variables by stepwise regression analysis, also tested the mediating effect of high temperature and heat waves. The results show that:(1)The tourism transportation carbon emissions in the six provinces of central China maintained a relatively high and continuous growth. In terms of time, the tourism transportation carbon emissions in the six provinces of central China increased rapidly in 2006-2012,then showed a slow upward trend after 2013.In terms of area, the tourism transportation carbon emissions in Shanxi Province and Jiangxi Province are significantly lower than the other four provinces. The tourism transportation carbon emissions in Hunan,Hubei,Henan and Anhui provinces are in a leading position, but the fluctuations are obvious.(2)The tourism transportation carbon emissions has a positive impact on malaria incidence and tuberculosis incidence, but have no significant impact on population mortality. However, after adding the high temperature and heatwaves, the impact of tourism transportation carbon emissions on residents' health has changed. The positive impact of tourism transportation carbon emissions on malaria incidence and tuberculosis incidence is weakened, while tourism transportation carbon emissions has a positive impact on population mortality.(3)The mediating effect of high temperature and heat waves is significant, and continuous high temperature weather has a greater impact on human health.(4)Improvements in the economic situation and health conditions can reduce the risk of sickness among residents. Therefore,it is recommended that we should strengthen regional cooperation in tourism and transportation, control carbon emissions from tourism transportation, and increase the support of medical and health conditions,to improve the health of residents.
