Huangmei Cross-Stitch is originated from Huangmei,Hubei.It is a prevalent handicraft in Huangmei.“All females in Huangmei knows how to cross stitch” is a well-known saying in Huangmei.Girls who were doing Huangmei Cross-Stitch were everywhere on the streets in Huangmei in days of yore,and it has become a characteristic cultural attraction.The original functionality of Huangmei Cross-Stitch is to path clothes has become an exquisite and beautiful handicraft later.It can be usually found in daily use housewares such as kerchief,pillow,curtains and clothes.Huangmei Cross-Stitch is inherited from generations to generations,women created special stitch— interweave according to the lines on the clothes,from simple to complex,from random to patterned.They integrate their understanding and hope to the beautiful life into the cross-stitch.Huangmei Cross-Stitch is a wonderful flower of traditional culture in Hubei province,and it has been selected by United Nations Educational,Scientific and Cultural Organization as China's non material cultural heritage in 2006.With the rapid change in fashion trends nowadays,many traditional handicrafts have become unpopular.The Huangmei Cross-Stitch is also fading way from people's vision since it cannot satisfy the various aesthetic needs nowadays;and it has affected the spread and development of Huangmei Cross-Stitch.Thus,it is urgent to find a feasible way to protect this valuable traditional culture.This paper discusses such a way to increase the share of Huangmei Cross-Stitch related products in cultural and creative products markets,with generative design of Huangmei Cross-Stitch's cultural and creative products.Such a way can help improve the reputation of Huangmei Cross-Stitch and explore more powerful and creative paths for traditional handicrafts to become prevalent in today's markets.This paper studies on the non-material cultural heritage Huangmei Cross-Stitch.The paper will first summarize its history,geographical environment,and cultural traditions.Second,the paper will analyze on the aesthetic values and cultural connotations of Huangmei Cross-Stitch,compare it to other traditional cross-stitches,and conclude special artistic charms that Huangmei Cross-Stitch has.The paper will then elaborate the current situation of cultural and creative products of Huangmei Cross-Stitch.With reviewing the success of cultural and creative products of Forbidden City,the paper will then propose customized design guidance to cultural and creative products of Huangmei Cross-Stitch.The guidance proposes to improve the culturalinnovation of the cultural and creative products,including graph innovation and color innovation;and the innovations should tightly attach to cultural connotations of Huangmei Cross-Stitch and market needs for different people.The guidance considers a way to reach common expectations from majority of people and also satisfy some specific needs and interests.The guidance will also propose a way to explore digitalized propagation and inheritance of Huangmei Cross-Stitch under the“Internet+”environment.
