The special shape of profiled cross-section fibers can effectively absorb the sweat and moisture on the surface of the skin and quickly transmit them to the surface to achieve the effect of moisture absorption,drying and cooling.Because the profiled cross-section fiber has good moisture-conducting properties,it is widely used in the production of moisture-absorbing and quick-drying underwear,moisture-absorbing cool summer fabrics and sportswear,etc,which has created superior conditions for the development of functional textiles.Shaped cross-section fabrics need to be desizing to meet printing requirements.At present,the main desizing methods are alkali desizing,enzymatic desizing,oxidant desizing and acid desizing.The representative varieties of shaped cross-section fibers are Coolsmart,Coolplus,Coolmax and so on.Because the structural composition is polyester,so the sizing is usually made of polyvinyl alcohol,polyacrylate and polyester.Desizing process is the key process that affects the wicking effect of yarn and fabric with different cross-section.Based on the mechanism of moisture absorption and quick drying and moisture absorption and cooling of the cross-section fiber yarn fabric,this paper deeply studied the influence of desizing process on the wicking effect,mechanical properties and surface morphology of the special-shaped fiber yarn and fabric,aiming to obtain reasonable retreat.The pulping process achieves the effect of having a good wicking effect on the profiled cross-section fiber fabric after desizing.In this paper,we studied the Coolsmart fiber,one of the representative varieties of the cross-section fiber from the following aspects:(1)The longitudinal surface and cross-section characteristics of Coolsmart fiber were studied by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The study on the longitudinal surface of Coolsmart fibers shows that there are four grooves along the longitudinal direction of the fibers.According to the principle of capillary wicking,liquid diffuses along the grooves on the surface of the fibers,thus the fibers have the capability of moisture absorption and sweat elimination.At the same time,there are deposits in the grooves.The energy spectrum(EDS)analysis shows that the deposits in the groove of Coolsmart fiber are mainly oligomers.The presence of oligomers will block the moisture transport channels and affect the moisture wicking of the fibers.The cross section of Coolsmart fibers shows that the cross section of Coolsmart fibers is “ten” shaped.(2)The Coolsmart fiber was treated by the water treatment process and the alkali treatment process respectively.It was found that the alkali treatment process can better remove the oligomer in the groove of the Coolsmart fiber and enhance the wicking and wetting of the fiber yarn.When the mass fraction of NaOH is about 4 %,the wicking effect of the yarn is the best.Considering that the fabric needs to meet the printing and dyeing requirements through alkali desizing,this subject combines the removal process of the oligomer with the desizing process,thereby achieving the purpose of saving the process,saving energy and protecting the environment.(3)Considering the particularity of the profiled polyester yarn,three slurry formulations were used for sizing.The core-wicking height and strength of the desizing yarn were tested by alkali desizing process.The results showed that the wicking height of the yarn after the desizing was increased and the strength decreased.The reasonable desizing process parameters were: NaOH mass fraction 4 %,processing time 50 min.SEM tests showed that the slurry between the fibers was cleaned and the oligomers in the fiber grooves were also removed by reaction with the base.(4)The effect of alkali desizing process on the wicking effect,weight loss rate and tensile strength of Coolsmart/C(50/50)fabrics shows that the most important factor in the desizing process parameters is the mass fraction of alkali liquor.Alkali treatment can effectively improve the wicking effect of fabrics,and its water conductivity is significantly better than that of untreated fabrics,but the tensile strength is reduced.In order to ensure the performance of the fabric,the reasonable desizing process of the profiled section polyester fiber/cotton blend fabric is: NaOH mass fraction 2 %,treatment time 30 min.The warp/weft wicking ability of the fabric is related to the warp/weft density of the fabric.When the warp density is greater than the weft density,the warp height of the warp fabric is greater than the wicking height of the weft fabric.Figure 38,table 54,reference 99.
