An Analysis Of Exercises In IGCSE Chemistry Textbook

As an important part of teaching materials,exercises play an important role in organizing students' learning and practice activities.The ideal chemistry textbook exercises should meet the requirements of chemistry curriculum standards,reflect the requirements of the times,and adhere to the purpose of educating people,and strive to cultivate and develop students' core literacy.With the promotion of basic education reform and the emergence of new college entrance examination forms,it is particularly important to compile chemistry textbooks that meet the requirements of curriculum standards and college entrance examination.Therefore,it is necessary to study the exercises of foreign excellent chemistry textbooks,summarize and absorb the characteristics of the compilation of exercises of foreign excellent textbooks,and on this basis,find out the problems and deficiencies in the compilation of exercises of Chemistry Textbooks in China,and provide certain ideas for the front-line teachers in China in the compilation of chemical exercises.This paper has taken the exercises of IGCSE Chemistry as the research object.Firstly,it has used the literature method to sort out the literature materials and sort out the current research situation of the exercises of chemistry textbooks at home and abroad.Secondly,it has used the text analysis method to analyze the types of exercises,the number of exercises,the difficulty of exercises and the consistency of exercises and teaching syllabus(The British national curriculum standard for science education includes the overall requirements of physics,chemistry,biology,geoscience and other disciplines.The specific requirements for each subject have been reflected in the syllabus),thirdly,it has summarized the unique design of exercises in the textbook,and concludes that the following are the unique points of this textbook: the types of exercises are rich,mainly subjective exercises;the number of exercises is large,reasonable distribution;the difficulty of exercises is moderate,the level of "analysis" is the highest;the consistency between exercises and outline is high.Finally,some suggestions were put forward for the compilation of Chinese chemistry teaching materials by using the comparative method and combining with the chemistry core literacy: increasing the types of exercises,highlighting the pertinence of different types of exercises;reasonably arranging the number of exercises,improving the practical performance of exercises;adjusting the difficulty of exercises after class to achieve the organic unity of "teaching,learning and testing";in-depth research and revision of curriculum standards,improving the consistency between exercises and curriculum standards.
