Textbook issue is important to education reform in every country, which can not be avoided. In 2010, China introduced the "long-term reform and development of the State Plan", proposed to introduce outstanding foreign textbooks, to strengthen the construction of textbooks and improve the quality of higher education. Moreover, with further promotion of China's curriculum reform, textbooks have been used in high school overhaul, thus university textbooks problem is imperative.Higher education level of developed countries in Europe and America has certain advantages, and their textbooks are very different from ours, especially the American university textbook, which reflects a certain amount of advancement and representation. In order to deepen our understanding of the university chemistry textbook between China and the USA, this paper compares two sets of chemistry textbooks used by chemistry students-"lnorganic Chemistry" and "Chemistry"This study is a comparison of the two textbooks, based on system theory approach, combined with the literature method, comparative method, content analysis, from several aspects such as the curriculum, the overall features, content, style structure, content presentation, functional project.Research Findings:1) "Inorganic Chemistry" and "Chemistry" are both applicable to the same course, with similar teaching task and teaching time.2) As the curriculum aspect, the American College curriculum system is flexible; while our curriculum is more fixed.3) In terms of overall features, the portability of "Inorganic Chemistry" is outstanding, and the price is lower; while the digital feature of "Chemistry" is more obvious, but the price is higher.4) In terms of the content settings, consistent with the scope of knowledge, in "Inorganic Chemistry", knowledge of chemical principles and elements have the same proportion, a volume of each; while "Chemistry" focuses on basic principles of chemistry. In addition, the chapter division of the two textbooks is quite different, some sections select different content. 5) In terms of style structure, the structure of "Inorganic Chemistry" is simple, the logic is strong, but the expression of teaching is lacking; while, in "Chemistry" the level is rich, the teaching function is powerful, but the space is too large.6) In terms of content presentation, "Inorganic Chemistry" is based on knowledge system, more reliable on written expression and concise charts, attention to knowledge representation and interpretation; while "Chemistry" is centered on teaching, the use of text types and chart type are more abundant, the form and function of the charts are all very rich.7) In terms functional project, "Inorganic Chemistry" has a sample function project design, and few auxiliary teaching project, but the content is refined and focused refining and highlight; while "Chemistry" function project design is delicate, and rich in content, teaching and instrumental performance are full, but easy to cause the slack of student's autonomous learningThrough comparative analysis of two sets of textbooks have produced some inspiration of textbooks construction:1) Optimizing the curriculum, textbooks, construction of more comprehensive environmental impact.2) In terms of the content settings, on the one hand, adhere to the close, clear and logical structure; on the one hand, enhance the knowledge of basic, applied and broad.3) Enriching the presentation of textbooks; enhance the teaching performance of the textbook.4) Developing three-dimensional materials reasonably.5) Improving collaboration model of textbook writing. This paper attempts to compare the two sets of chemistry textbooks from the perspectives of System Theory, and on the one hand, deepen the understanding of similar textbooks of the two countries, and try to explore the idea of similar textbooks construction. Look forward to the role of better ideas.
