The damping temperature range of butyl rubber(IIR)is-60??10?,IIR is one of the best damping materials.However,the damping property almost disappears when the temperature over 10?,which limits its application in damping property at room temperature.Eucommia ulmoides gum(EUG)is a kind of bio-based rubber,which is isomeric with natural rubber and has rubber plastic duality.Its dynamic mechanical properties are controlled by glass transition and crystallization melting transition mechanism.It is a kind of rubber with damping property at room temperature.Based on the expectation that EUG can broaden the damping temperature range of IIR.In this paper,IIR and EUG with excellent damping properties are blended in different proportion by special blending technology,The influence of EUG components on the damping and mechanical properties of IIR under different processing conditions was studied,and EUG was used as the compatibilizer of IIR/EUG blends modified by epoxy.The effect and mechanism of compatibilizer content on the damping property,mechanical property and microstructure of the blend were studied.On this basis,the influence of modified basalt fiber on the material properties was further investigated.The dynamic mechanical properties and static physical mechanical properties of the composite were studied by Dynamic Mechanical Analysis(DMA)and tensile properties tests.The crystals in the compound were studied by Differential Scanning Calorimeter(DSC)and X-ray diffractometer(XRD).The microstructure and micro dispersion of the compound tensile section were observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).The major achievements of this paper are:(1)With the increase of EUG number,the damping temperature range of IIR becomes wider,When the number of EUG is 10?20,there is an obvious tan? peak.When EUG was added to IIR,the mechanical properties of the blends decreased significantly with the increase of EUG component.IIR/EUG(80/20)binary vulcanizate with relatively good mechanical properties are selected for further study.(2)self-made EEUG as compatibilizer.The effect of compatibilizer on the properties of IIR/EUG(80/20)blends was studied.After adding compatibilizer,the interface of the materials is more uniform,which the compatibility effect is improved obviously.Therefore,IIR/EUG with compatibilizer was used to get better damping and mechanical properties.(3)BF was grafted by KH550.The results of SEM,elemental analysis and FTIR showed that the grafting was successful.The addition of changed basalt fiber(KH550-BF)improved the damping performance of the ternary blends,but did not improve the mechanical properties of the ternary blends.
