Research On The Competitiveness Of China’s Three Major State-owned Petroleum Companies

Petroleum is related to the development of the country’s economy and society and the guarantee of energy security.The development of state-owned petroleum companies has an indispensable influence on China’s economy.As the total demand for oil and gas market continues to increase and Crude oil external dependence continues to rise,the security of petroleum supply faces higher risks.This makes the state-owned petroleum companies face higher requirements in the international petroleum market competition.State-owned petroleum companies should continuously improve their competitiveness,and provide reference for China’s private petroleum companies as a benchmark,which foster the healthy development of China’s petroleum industry and enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of the oil and gas industry.Firstly,based on the review of the domestic and foreign research status on enterprise competitiveness theory,this paper briefly introduces the domestic and international environment of the petroleum market and the summary of specific research subjects.According to the internal and external influence factors of enterprise competitiveness and the construction principle of enterprise competitiveness evaluation model,this paper constructs a enterprise competitiveness evaluation index system with its own characteristics.Secondly,in the empirical analysis,the three major state-owned petroleum companies and the benchmark company Exxon Mobil are selected as the research objects,and the relevant data from 2013 to 2017 are selected as samples.According to the comprehensive calculation results of the entropy weight method,the overall situation of their competitiveness development is analyzed in depth.Taking the international major petroleum company Exxon Mobil as the industry benchmark,China’s three major state-owned petroleum companies conduct horizontal comparative analysis with it.Again,the entropy weight method is used for longitudinal comparative analysis.The competitiveness of each dimension of the three major state-owned petroleum companies is analyzed from the four dimensions of scale strength,operating capability,profitability and development capability.Finally,the research results show that although China’s state-owned petroleum companies have ranked among the major international petroleum companies in terms of scale and strength,there is still a big gap in terms of operating capability,profitability and development capability.Therefore,we try to give effective measures to enhance the competitiveness of state-owned petroleum companies.
