In this thesis we firstly outlined the importance of project evaluation for preclinical drug discovery projects and attributes of projects at this stage,as well as the reality that Company G is currently lacking a project evaluation system that has integrated management and market potential.Through the comparison of different project evaluation methods and taking the reality of R&D status in company G,we decided to build the project evaluation model with analytical network process(ANP).We had selected ten tier II evaluation criteria to evaluate the project from management, technique, commercial and quality perspectives via Delphi method. We selected three on-going projects from Shanghai site for case evaluation.Through scoring methods, three experts had made pairwise comparison and the results were calculated through SuperDecisions software, which can provide the weight of each evaluation criteria and priority of the three projects. The results showed that this model can transform the subjective peer-review into more objective and quantified results, which is recognized by the three experts. The final priority of the three projects is slightly variant with current company strategy but could be informative for future resource allocation, indicating the impact of considering management as well as market potential to project evaluation. We also discussed the issues encountered during practice and proposed practical work flow in terms of future execution.ANP has been relatively more widely applied in R&D projects of other arena but pharmaceutical area. This is the first time that ANP was used in project evaluation in company G and it deserves to be optimized in the future.
