PC / ABS alloy is a kind of engineering plastic with excellent comprehensive performance on the market at present,and it has a wide range of uses.But its main defect is the poor compatibility of PC and ABS,which leads to a certain impact on the toughness of the alloy after blending,which limits its application,how to improve the compatibility and toughness of PC / ABS materials is of great significance to expand the application of PC / ABS materials.In this paper,starting from two aspects of styrene-butadiene latex particle size and MBS grafting,a compatibilizer and toughener MBS resin for PC / ABS alloy was developed,it is an elastomer with a typical "core-shell" structure,and the double distribution of the particle size of the rubber phase in the core layer is also the key to MBS resin's compatibilizing and toughening effect.The content of the research is as follows:(1)Using high-and low-temperature one-step free radical emulsion polymerization,we successfully prepared styrene-butadiene latex suitable for grafting,and realized the double size distribution of latex particle size,and the ratio of size and particle size can be adjusted.As a reference,double particle size distribution styrene-butadiene latex was prepared by agglomeration method.The effects of the reaction temperature,reaction time and other additives on the particle size distribution of the latex during the two polymerization processes were mainly investigated.Finally,styrene-butadiene latex with a large and small particle size distribution could be prepared.And the particle size distribution of the latex is between 200-500 nm and 30-100 nm,which provides raw materials for the next MBS grafting reaction.(2)The styrene-butadiene-methyl methacrylate(MBS)ternary graft polymer was prepared by grafting the double particle size distribution styrene-butadiene latex by the emulsion graft method.By adjusting the types,addition methods and addition amounts of initiators,activators,emulsifiers,molecular weight regulators in the emulsion grafting process,and exploring their influence on the reaction process,the best process formula is determined;The reaction temperature and reaction time were explored to determine the best process curve for the graft reaction.Under this optimal process condition,MBS graft powder with a final conversion rate of 99.9%,a graft rate of 31.45%,and a graft efficiency of 48.75% was prepared.(3)The application performance test of MBS resin prepared by agglomeration and chemical styrene butadiene latex was carried out.The test results show that the addition of MBS can significantly improve the toughness and compatibility of PC / ABS alloy,which is the future PC / ABS Alloy research provides a certain reference value.
