Plate tower holds a dominate position in the chemical separation equipment,which is widely used in the petroleum,chemical,light industry,pharmaceutical and other fields.Because the design process of the plate tower is complex,the traditional design has a heavy workload,low efficiency,and high error rate.The plate design function in the process simulation software(Aspen Plus,HYSYS,and PRO/II)is attached to the tower unit module.Only the process data in the tower unit module can be used,and it cannot be input from outside.Professional tower equipment design software(KG-Tower and SOUCOL)cannot generate load performance chart.This paper has developed the sizing and rating procedures for bubble cap trays,sieve trays,and valve trays.Through in-depth study of the design process of the three kind of trays,returning the relationship diagram to a polynomial to facilitate program calculations.The sizing and rating program is programmed using the Visual Basic programming language.The programs developed in this paper facilitates designers to import the process data exported by Aspen Plus,PRO/II or HYSYS into the program.After the sizing and rating of the tray,a plate with better overall performance is obtained,and finally the calculation result can be derived in Excel.A detailed calculation report is formed.This paper compares program results with literature results and other software results.Comparing the calculated results of bubble cap tray program with the literature results,the relative error of the tray pressure drop,entrainment,and slot opening is less than 4%.It is only applicable to the sizing and rating of the standard(JB-1212-73)bubble cap.Compared with the results of KG-tower,the sieve tray program results in a 14% higher on dry pressure,a 11%~ 13% higher on plate pressure drop,and a 24%~36% higher on clear liquid in the downcomer.Comparing the calculated results of the valve tray program with the KG-Tower results,the relative error of the spray flood is within 5%,the relative error of the tray pressure drop is within 2%,the dry tray pressure drop is reduced by 6%~9%,and the clear liquid in downcomer is reduced by 21%.
