A Comparative Study Of Primitive Religious Buildings Between Miao And Tujia Nationality In West Hunan

Administrated by Hunan Province and located in the juncture of Hunan,Guizhou,Hubei and Chongqing or Northwest of Hunan Province,West Hunan mainly covers Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture,Zhangjiajie and Huaihua along Yuan River,You River and Li River,where Tujia and Miao people live.From the perspective of geographical significance,there are more hills than flat grounds here,with unbroken and rolling mountains.As a great strategic place,it has long been a frontier defense since ancient times.While in terms of culture,no other place in Chinese cultural circle holds more witchcraft culture than it,namely Bachu culture.Due to special natural,historical and cultural reasons,people have long been impressed by its mystery.In many research fields of West Hunan culture,cultural research of local religion of minorities is a very important part of cultural st udy,with high research value and significance.As main peoples in West Hunan,comparative research of Miao?s and Tujia?s religious buildings holds high values of heritage and historical studies.Influenced by unique sacrificial culture of West Hunan,reli gious buildings of Miao People and Tujia People are mainly residential buildings with sacrificial sites.Therefore,their religious architectures themselves are of independence.In addition to residential buildings,there is also ?corridor for hand-waving dance?.The paper takes religious builds of the two peoples as research object and starts from forms and features of religious beliefs and sacrificial activities to seek developmental path of religious sacrifice and explore evolutional process of and compa re their similarities and differences through consulting copious literature,historical materials,field surveys and investigations.Hence,it meets the research needs of religious buildings of minorities in West Hunan,providing architectural reference fo r comparison between Miao?s and Tujia?s religions and offsetting material culture vacancy of religious comparison between Miao People and Tujia People.
