Research On Spatial Morphology Of The Ancient City Shangqiu

In the long course of millennia of Chinese history,there existed a large amount of historical cities,which experienced innumerous changes.While,till now,only a very few of them survive perfectly.Shangqiu City is such an example with a history of over 4 millennia.Its Guide Mansion of Ming Dynasty built 500 years ago still persists now.In addition,Shangqiu is a large ancient city site,a combination of Eight-Diagram City,water rounded city and "city built on cities".Obviously,it has the unique historic value and important scientific interest.The research on spatial pattern of ancient cities in China dates from 1990s,but most is not deep enough because the large number of Chinese cities,big differences of regional contexts,flavors and cultures from place to place and too old and decayed research methods.This thesis commitments to exploring the essence of spatial pattern of ancient cities and makes a deep analysis in Shangqiu with the principle of urban spatial pattern,so as to provide more basic data and construction proof for the future development of the ancient city Shangqiu.Shangqiu is an important atypical ancient city in China,with its unique spatial pattern,merging with the conception of reason and nature in the theory of Chinese ancient cities,not only embodies the exceptional planning and construction thought of Chinese ancient cites,but also obeys the nature and adapts to local conditions.This Thesis is divided to 5 chapters:Chapter 1 introduces the research background and basic research content,limits the research range of this thesis and proposes the research theoretical basis and methods according to the research content.Chapter 2 explains the conception of urban spatial pattern theory,combining the domestic and foreign relative research results,provides the conception basis for the research in this thesis.Chapter 3 first summarizes the protection history of the ancient city Shangqiu,introduces its geographical conditions,historical evolution and city building history and also extends the main characters and research status of Shangqiu Chapter 4 makes a general analysis of the features of the spatial pattern of the ancient city Shangqiu from the macroscopic view,so as to explore its main characters,identify its historical value and special value in scientific research and provide theory evidence for its protection.Chapter 5 makes a detailed analysis of the spatial pattern of the ancient city Shangqiu from the microcosmic view and proposes targeted and viable protective strategies for Shangqiu synthesizing its space,substance and element.Thus,this chapter provides basis for its sustainable development and makes a summary.Chapter 6 provides suitable conservation policies for Shangqiu city from both macroscopic view and microcosmic view.
