China should drive to develop renewable energy.However,the characteristics like intermittence,randomness and anti-regulation,of renewable energy such as wind power and PV will weaken the security and stability operation of power grid,which makes the peak shaving task difficult,coupled with the annual growth of peak load and the widening valley-to-peak.Coal-fired power generation has been strictly limited based on the objective needs to control air pollution.With advantages like quick startup-and-shutdown,flexible operation,and low emission,gas turbines are used for peak regulation in power grid,which can not only effectively improve the grid status of poor adaptation to load variation and promote renewable energy absorbing,but also make a significant benefit of energy conservation and environmental protection.In view of the advantages above,this paper claims to vigorously develop gas generator for peak load regulation,and make it one of the main peaking power source in future.In some developed countries,the proportion of flexible power sources such as gas generator and hydroelectric unit is large in electric power system,and the power grid has an excellent adjusting performance to accept large-scale renewable energy of wind,solar energy,etc.With the increasing proportion of renewable energy in the power system in China,there are still few researches on the installation planning of flexible power source in domestic.Based on the current environmental requirement and power market reform situation,paper researches on peaking capacity of natural gas generator in power system in the case of renewable energy proportion increasing.The paper firstly considers random impacts of renewable energy generation and load on peaking demand,study peaking demand model;then introduces conditional value-at-risk(CVaR)theory to reduce the insufficient risk of peaking capacity in the system,study on peaking capacity required by power grid under certain confidence level;finally,considers the peaking capacity of othe power source,study on the peaking capacity estimation model of natural gas generator.This paper analyzes an example of the power system in a certain area in China.The result shows that the model can effectively calculate the peaking capacity of gas unit meeting a certain confidence level and peaking margin,in situations of different installed capacity ratio of wind power and pv,and different power load,then estimate the peaking capacity of gas turbine needed in theory,and provide reference for power source planning...
