As the advancement of industrial technology and the expansion in urbanization,the water delivery system and the other infrastructure are developing to improve the public service.With the popularization of the intelligent building,the remote meter reading system has gradually replaced the manual meter reading to reduce the workload.However,the traditional water meters are still working well in the old buildings.In order to manage the meter reading,the water supply company needs to reassemble the new type water meter.This process is cumbersome and wastes lots of human resource.Replacing the traditional meter will result in waste of resource.Combining related remote reading research,we designed a new type of remote water reading system.Without replacing the old meter,the reading terminal is equipped on the traditional water meter,to collect the meter image and send meter reading.The main research of the article is as follows.Comparing the methods of methods of meter reading in the domestic and overseas,the research is mainly at meter reading method and the way of sending reading data.We decided to use camera to get water meter reading and send the meter reading through GPRS.On the base of guaranteeing product quality and reducing the cast,we select the hardware and platform.The first difficulty lies in getting the numbers area in the water table.According to the specific physical structure of the water meter,I designed image processing algorithm and code.After Image preprocessing,we extract the outline of the meter image by canny algorithm.We fill the character area by means of filling up the connected components.We can detect the straight line on character area and calculate the tilt angle by Hough Transform.After that,we can adjust the panel image by the tile angle and get the character area position by horizontal and vertical projection.In the procession of meter reading acquisition,we analyzed the method basing on statistical features and neural networks.Combining the reading's characters and the operating speed of the microcomputer,we chose to use template matching as the way of detecting meter reading.As you know,the characters use printed font and the number of figure is ten.After extracting the character area,most of the interference,like character tokens and background subtraction,has been eliminated.We can get high recognition accuracy by calculating the standard deviation of the template and the area to be matched.As the character area has been distracted from the panel image,this process reduced the calculation and increased the speed of computing.Then,it can achieve the desired effect.In the development platform,we installed Ubuntu Linux system in the upper computer and cross-compilation tool chain.After configure static link library,we can cross compilation the image processing code and ported to the Linux operating system in ARM 11.Then we designed the hardware circuit and programmed the application code of ov9650 and GPRS.Finally,we implement the function of getting the panel image,detecting the character and remote send reading data.We verified the accuracy of image processing algorithm and terminal's function.
