The Protection And Renovation Of Street And Lane Space In Traditional Villages In Western Hunan

The street and lane space is the unique landscape and texture of traditional villages.It is not only the token of material,but also embodies people’s life and memory.It is the most dynamic part of contacts and activities in people’s life.However,China is currently undergoing a rapid process of urbanization,the street and lane space under the impact of continuously updated modern cultural information,is inevitably changed in its economic mode,life style,etc.It is gradually engulfed by the modern wave of design and construction,and the street structure worthy of reference is unfolding a historical transformation nowadays.Some are submerged,or even vanished in the stream of history,which caused irreparable destruction of historical and cultural assets.Western Hunan has a large number of traditional villages,but uneven development.The street space there in its unique natural condition,social environment and economic technology,after the long history of baptism,has formed its own style.The pleasant scale,natural form,wisdom of construction and the excellent Chinese traditional and ethnic culture hidden b ehind the street and lane space,have amazed people all over the world.However,the preservation of the street and lane space in traditional villages has irreversible characteristics.In order to coordinate with contemporary life and develop the hidden et hnic culture,the street and lane space of traditional villages should receive appropriate protection,preservation,restoration,renewal and regeneration.It is more important to ‘remember’ than to ‘keep’.Thus,it is of great significance to continuously pay attention and study the conservation and renewal strategy of the street and lane space in the process of modernization.Based on the above explanation,this paper mainly divides into 5 parts.Chapter One introduces the origin and background of t his paper,the research object and its definition,the research status both home and abroad,and elaborates the research methods while proposes the framework of the paper.Chapter Two makes a detailed discussion about the adaptive evolution and evolutional factors of the street and lane space,like natural,social,cultural,economic and technical environment,and then to summarize the current problems.Chapter Three tries to amplify the configuration of the street and lane space on the basis of adaptive evolution,and discusses comprehensively the structure from the dimensions of formation,composition and variability elements,then to lay the foundation of strategy of conservation and renewal.Chapter Four puts forward several patterns and specific str ategies of conservation and renewal of the street and lane space,while enumerates examples to state its principles,contents and means.This is the core chapter of the paper.Chapter Five takes the street and lane space structure in Laojiazhai village,Fenghuang County as the research target so as to discuss the appropriate mode of conservation and renewal,proposing the reflections and practical measures.Lastly,the paper summarizes the study,looks forward to the future,and concludes the innovation and shortcomings of this research.This paper hopes to give helpful guidance to interpret and amplify the traditional village street and lane space by the multi-dimensional view,as well as to provide available measures and avoid simple replication,so as to propose practical reference and design idea to the conservation and renewal of traditional village the street and lane space in western Hunan province.
