Architectural skin is the surface structure and material shell of the building, and it is also the most direct interface for people to perceive the building.Through the appearance and relevance of the form of the skin, the building conveys the information given by the arch itect to the public and reflects its own value. In the modern cultural environment dominated by image symbols and media information, the architectural representation of the architectural skin is particularly prominent.Today's social science and technology are increasingly developing, subject research is increasingly cross-cutting,information transmission is increasingly virtual, and aesthetic values are increasingly diversified.Aesthetic values, art concepts, philosophical thoughts, etc.in the past er a have gradually collapsed in the same absolute cultural system. In this social context of rapid development and development, expressions and cognitive models are gradually turning to subjective speculation and perceived experience.Due to personal experience and socio-cultural differences,in the process of architects conveying information to experiential people through the skin and observers in the process of recognizing skin meaning, the standards of information communication and judgment are often not e qual;resulting in many architectural semantics of contemporary society. The lack of meaning and misunderstanding of meaning are not recognized by the public. Therefore, this paper studies the skin's cognitive approach and design strategy from the perspect ive of cognitive systems and perceived experience, and has great academic and social value.First, cut from the "thickness" of the skin, and classified into "physical thickness," "perceived thickness," and "cognitive thickness," based on the physical, sensory, and social properties of the skin.Combining the historical development of the skin, the topics of important skin and materials were selected to explore the rationality and feasibility of this research perspective in the process of cognitive analysis.Second, combining the concepts and methods of cognitive psychology and architectural phenomenology,we study the cognitive basis of people's cognitive skin, including cognitive factors, cognitive processes and cognitive models.Corresponding to the three concepts of “thickness”,the skin can be used as a cognitive object to perform inductive deduction of cognitive psychology and phenomenon perception from three aspects: “material language”,“graphic symbol”,and “place atmosphere”.Further, three modes of people's cognitive epistemic semantics are summarized from the cognitive process, namely,"intensional semantics","extended semantics" and "cognitive contexts".Again, under the condition of determining the basis of cognition, combing the possible ways of epidermal cognition.By building phenomenological methods, the architectural skin is understood from the integrated approaches of the inner psychological spirit and the external material phenomena. In combination with Husserl's theory of intentional structure, four cognitive approaches are summed up,namely "phenomenon perception","prototype schema","place context" and "social landscape".Then, from the five aspects of "graphics," "experience," "type," "geographical," and "technical," this paper dis cusses the dominant factors and academic background of contemporary design strategies of architectural skin.Combined with architectural examples, analyze the social phenomena and cognitive outcomes produced by different skin strategies. Finally, the author summarizes the full-text theory and re-emphasizes the necessity of cognitive analysis for today's architectural disciplines and the importance of ideographic logic for architectural skins. And discuss the limitations of this article and further prospects.
