At present,the urbanization pace of China is getting increasingly faster,and accordingly,the number of vehicles is growing rapidly.As a result,urban traffic problem becomes more and more serious.It is reported that the direct economic loss caused by urban traffic congestion and delay has come up to over 100 billion Yuan each year.And the construction project without traffic impact assessment is an important factor worsening this problem.In this sense,the analysis of the traffic generated or attracted by construction projects and the assessment of the traffic impact is particularly significant.And meanwhile,as an important part of shipping center upper Yangtze River,Guoyuan Operating Area is a crucial support of the logistics hub in Chongqing Port.It is also a vital platform of the central area to open up to the outside world by interacting with the nine major national logistics areas as well as nine major logistics channels.Therefore,the construction of Guoyuan Operating Area will have an impact on the urban traffic of the surrounding road network.In light of this,it is necessary to assess the impact of the project on the surrounding road traffic after its development.Relevant improvement measures and suggestions are also necessary to meet the traffic demand of the project itself and reduce the impact of the project traffic on the surrounding road traffic.This study has first analyzed the common theories and methods of traffic impact assessment at home and abroad,summarized the status quo of traffic impact assessment researches of domestic and foreign traffic scholars,and introduced relevant theories on traffic impact assessment.Moreover,it has investigated the status quo and future planning of Guoyuan Operating Area in the central area of Chongqing Port,and forecasted the traffic demand in the orchard area of central area of Chongqing Port.At last,with the guidance of relevant traffic demand forecasting theories,it has assessed the traffic impact in this area and put forward correspondent suggestions.The following conclusions have been drawn from this study: a)Full of logistics warehouses,the traffic volume on the roads nearby the port is relatively small.The traffic brought by the large construction project will not bring much pressure on the traffic on these roads.b)On the Shugang Avenue,with the help of Yuyi Diversion Channel,the background traffic on the avenue may not cause traffic jam in the planning period.Therefore,the goods Ro-trucks and goods in the warehouses would not exert impact on the avenue.c)On the belt expressways,the background traffic volume is not so great.And the dynamic analysis of background traffic shows that only if the background traffic volume goes beyond 50% of the expected traffic volume,the project traffic will then exert an impact on the belt expressways,which would result in slight congestions.d)The increase of the traffic volume of the belt expressway tolls is on a general increase.There is no obvious queuing phenomenon in 2020 while in 2030,when the project traffic increase to 80%,there will be a clear queuing phenomenon,which will become increasingly serious.
