Study On Technical Characteristics And Evaluation Index Of The SBS Modified Asphalt

SBS modified asphalt has good temperature sensitivity,high temperature deformation resistance and low temperature ductility,it can significantly improve service character of the asphalt,so get more extensive application on the highway.According to the problems arising in the evaluation of SBS modified asphalt performance in our existing road modified asphalt technology standard,on the basis of the existing evaluation index of asphalt,using different oil sources of matrix asphalt and different kinds of modifier(two linear SBS,a star-shaped SBS)to prepare modified asphalt,then test it at different project and different testing condition.Through the analyses of modified asphalt with different SBS dosage in conventional experiments,thermal performance,SHRP technical performance and the research of quality index,simple analyzes the relation between dosage of SBS and the characteristics of SBS modified asphalt,discusses the difference between matrix asphalt and SBS modified asphalt,put forward the related index of evaluating the quality of SBS modified asphalt,and further for the basis of controling the construction quality of SBS modified asphalt.Conclusions obtained by the experiments are:Through the experimnets of modified asphalt with different varieties and different SBS dosages in conventional index(penetration,ductility,softening point,etc.),analyzing the relationship between the SBS dosage and various technical performances of SBS modified asphalt provides the basis of evaluating the quality of SBS modified asphalt in conventional technical performance;through the analyses of modified asphalt with different SBS dosage in SHRP technical performance indicators test such as beam bending test,dynamic shear test and so on,the relationship between the SBS dosage and SHRP technical performance indicators of SBS modified asphalt is obtained,the basis of evaluating the quality of SBS modified asphalt in SHRP technical performance indicators is provided.In this paper,through the study on the technology properties of SBS modified asphalt,analysis the modification mechanism of SBS modified asphalt,points out that the evaluation results of various test index should be considered when evaluating SBS modified asphalt,certain theories for effective application,quality control and testing evaluation of modified asphalt in construction process is provided.
