Residence Space Research Of Jiangxi Merchants In The Ancient Village Of Shangtang,Nancheng County

The ancient Shangtang Village in Nancheng county has been an important town in the Eastern of Jiangxi Province since ancient times.It’s the only place located between Jiangxi and Fujian trade route.A large number of buildings in the Ming and Qing Dynasties were preserved in the village.These buildings witness the historical vicissitudes of the ancient Shangtang village and bear the local culture.In addition,most of the residence owners are Jiangxi merchants.The residences’ flat form,functional division and space organization are influenced by the ideology and culture of the unique group of Jiangxi merchants.The development of ancient villages and residential buildings are also deeply influenced by the humane geographical environment and the culture of Jiangxi merchants,which shows unique characteristics.This article researches on the ancient Shangtang village in Jiangxi Province.Based on the field investigation and survey,and mapping data collected of ancient Shangtang villages,this article explores in depth from the perspectives of architecture,human geography,sociology and psychology.Taking the most prestigious and characteristic "Shi Ji Shi Hao" Merchant’s Residence in the ancient Shangtang Village as a case study,this article summarized the overall layout,plane characteristics,organizational principles and construction method of the ancient Shangtang village,and analyzed the spatial connotation from the perspectives of culture,life,art and sociology,which provides significant basis for preservation and development of tradition inhabitants.This article is divided into four parts,including six chapters,the third,fourth,fifth chapters are the main contents.The first part(Chapter 1 and Chapter 2)is about theoretical research:the background of the study,the definition of the research subject,the current situation at home and abroad,the research significance and research objective,the research content and research methods and the framework of the research.The second chapter is the chapter of the background description:a summary of the natural environment background of the geography,climate and property of the ancient Shangtang village;the social and economic background of the historical evolution of the region and the economic form of the Qing Dynasty;and the combing of the cultural background of Jiangxi merchants.The second part(Chapter 3)is the characteristic description.First,it introduces the overall situation of the whole village from the village structure,the location and distribution of the village in the ancient Shangtang village.Then,starting from the"Shi Ji Shi Hao" Merchant’s Residence,the overall layout of the residence and the functional components of each part are described in detail.The third part(Chapter 4 and Chapter 5)focuses on spatial analysis.The fourth chapter analyzes the spatial organization principle of residence in five aspects:fcunction,transportation,scale,vision and defense.Then,it analyzes the structure system,material application and decoration art of the construction of space.The fifth chapter,from the four aspects of culture,life,art and social humanities,analyzes the spatial connotation of Jiangxi merchants residence reflected in "Shi Ji Shi Hao"Merchant’s Residence.The fourth part(Chapter 6)is a summation of this Article.It evaluates the conservation value of "Shi Ji Shi Hao" Merchant’s Residence from the perspectives of history,science,art and economy.This chapter analyzes the existing development status,transformation means and shortcomings of ancient villages,and puts forward suggestions for the overall development and protection of ancient villages based on the research results.
