The phenomenon of living together with the same ancestor is an important form of our traditional settlement organization. The clan organization has cohesive force and plays an important role in resisting wars, natural disasters, and organizing migration and production. The farther away from the central government, the stronger the demand for clansmen organizations. As far as the existing inheritance pattern is concerned, the distribution of the clans in the south is better than that in the north, and the southeastern region is the most prosperous. The most of clan organization of the immigrants that come from Fujian and Guangdong to Hainan is also more prosperous.Early researches on Hainan settlements mostly belong to the category of South of the Five Ridges and are seldom studied separately.Hainan Island,a solitary island overseas,is a typical immigrant island.Every large-scale migration process brings new knowledge to Hainan and promotes the progress of Hainan civilization. When all ethnic immigrants move to Hainan, they inherit the Central Plains culture and regional culture.Cultural integration, collision and absorption make Hainan form a unique charm of Hainan culture. These cultures, which are reflected in settlement patterns, exhibit certain characteristics. From the perspective of clan culture, this article makes a deep discussion on the settlement pattern of Hainan.Through in-depth and systematic analysis of the characteristics of traditional surname in Hainan,The main purpose and content of this paper is to explore the influence of clan culture on settlement patterns. In this paper, the new research progress in the field of traditional settlements, traditional settlements in Hainan, clan traditional settlements and other fields is taken as the basis of this research.Through the use of fractal theory, landscape ecology theory, mathematical and mathematical methods, map bottom analysis, field investigation and other methods, the quantitative analysis of the boundary figure and settlement structure of the sample settlement is carried out.In order to make a thorough study of the Hainan clan type village, the comparison and analysis are carried out from three layers, which are the comparison of single surname settlement in different regions of Hainan, the comparison of single surname settlement and multi surname settlement, and the comparison between Hainan and Fujian.Through the combination of quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis,it can conclude that the settlements with strong patriarchal culture are regular, orderly and compact. The form of settlements with weak cultural heritage also shows relative looseness and rank.Compared with multi surname village, the surname of single surname is richer and the public space is more irregular and broken. The layout of the building is more compact, the direction of the building is more unified, and the influence of the clan culture is more profound.Compared with the Fujian area, the clan structure in Hainan settlement is incomplete. At the morphological level, the settlement centers are often natural elements, the residence type system is simplified and the arrangement of buildings is also slightly loose. There is less expression of spiritual needs in settlements, such as no establishment of academies, etc. There is also a different cultural strength between different villages in Hainan.Wenchang,Qionghai,Danzhou and Haikou and Dingan have inherited the clan culture better.Their settlement structure is more clear, the arrangement of the buildings is more orderly, the public space is more complex, the public elements are more perfect, and the ancestral hall is more grand. As far as clan influence is concerned, the effect of natural factors on settlement boundary is more obvious. The shape of the boundary mainly shows the adaptation to the regional environment.
