Nuclear has been widely used in China as a kind of clean energy.Up to now,all of those nuclear power plants which are under construction or have been built are coastal ones. However, there is no guideline for water resources assessment of coastal nuclear construction project, which makes the work more difficult.Analyses on rationalities of intake and use of water, and the impact of water discharge for coastal nuclear power plants have a great significance for the set of the guidelines for water resources assessment of coastal nuclear power plants.According to the plans for intake, use and discharge of water proposed by the owner of coastal nuclear power plant,it was proposed that the general requirements for water resources assessment by considering characteristics of intaking, use and discharge for water. In this study, tianwan nuclear power plant was chose as the case study.Researches on yields of intake and use of water, and the impact of water discharge for this nuclear power plant could provide the reference for rationalities on intake and use of water, and the impact analysis caused by water discharge of coastal nuclear power plant.Firstly, regular requirements for rationalities of water intake were proposed. Moreover, main technical points for it were analyzed from aspects of industrial policies, the plan and management of water resource, and the rationality of water resource allocation.Secondly, regular requirements for rationalities of water use were put forward, which introduced water-using techniques. Moreover, main technical points for it were analyzed from aspects of water use during the operating period and construction period, water conservation and water use of nuclear power plants. Finally, regular requirements for the impact caused by water discharge were presented, which were analyzed from aspects of the impact for water function zone, underground water, surrounding sea area.According to results of the case study, regular requirements for rationalities of intake and use of water, and the impact of water discharge for coastal nuclear power plants were feasible, which can provide reference for the work of water resources assessment for coastal nuclear construction project.
