The Study On The Modern Early Modernist Style Architecture In Jiangnan Region

Modern Chinese society was influenced by Western culture.Western cultural forms penetrated into Chinese culture from many aspects.Since the 1930 s,Chinese architects have also begun exploring contemporary architecture.Although the appearance of early modernism architecture in the history of Chinese architecture was short,it already had the style of modern architecture and had an important influence on the development of the later modernist architecture.However,the current academic research on early modernism is insufficient,and the remains of such buildings are not optimistic.The study of this group of buildings is a useful supplement to the study of modern architecture in the south of the Yangtze River,improving the cognitive and research system of modern architecture in the south of the Yangtze River,and providing historical information and humanistic connotations.In the paper,cities in the south of the Yangtze River represented by Suzhou,Wuxi,Changzhou and Zhenjiang are investigated and researched.Through surveying and mapping and literature review,they are analyzed through theoretical methods such as morphology and typology.Based on actual surveying and mapping data,they are mainly discussed in modern times.The morphological characteristics of the spatial structure of the early modernist architecture in the Jiangnan region include facade features,spatial modeling features,and structural models.On this basis,the overall characteristics of the early modern architecture in the south of the Yangtze River were summarized,and there was an evolutionary trend from the surface to the middle.It compares the early modernist architecture of Jiangnan in modern times with the traditional architecture of Jiangnan farming period,the combination of Chinese and Western architecture,and Western modernism architecture.It analyzes the facade features,spatial layout,building materials,and construction concepts in order to explore the modern history of southern Yangtze River.During the period,the inheritance and breakthrough between early modernist architecture and traditional architecture,the degree of interaction between Chinese and Western architecture,and the local characteristics under the influence of Western modernism.Based on the study of the physical form,the characteristics of early modernist architecture in the modern period of the Jiangnan region were summarized,and the reasons for its formation were explored.
