The first-grade highway is an important part of China's highway network.It has the characteristics of large capacity,fast speed and efficient transport.In the past,a part of first-grade highways' actual function mismatch their service objects because of the unclear definition of highway function.It will not only can't solve the traffic demand,cause the waste of highway resources,but also cause traffic accidents frequently.In addition,many first-grade highways lack of traffic organization in both general highway sections and access sections or fail to formulate corresponding traffic organization according to highway functions.It makes first-grade highways traffic chaotic and unsafe.Therefore it is necessary to study the function and traffic organization of the first-grade highway.In the aspect of highway function,through the analysis and summary of relevant research achievements on highway function classification at home and abroad,this paper points out the shortcomings of highway function classification in China's standard,the corresponding improvement suggestions and new highway function classification system.The service object,traffic characteristics and highway network structure of the typical first-grade highway in Zhejiang province are investigated and analyzed.Based on these factors,this paper adjusts the function classification of the first-grade highway.The concept of functional gradation is introduced to put forward the principle of highway network connection.Based on the adjusting of the first-grade highway's function classification,this paper judges the possibility of the connection between first-grade highway and other highways.Moreover,this paper studies the form between first-grade highway and connectable highways and un connectable highways.In the aspect of traffic organization,this paper studies the traffic organization of the first-grade highway as arterial highway and collector highway.As arterial highway,this paper studies traffic organization of the first-grade highway's general highway sections and access sections.The traffic organization of the first-grade highway's general highway sections includes right of way distribution,vehicle lane distribution and cross the first-grade highway's traffic organization.The traffic organization of the first-grade highway's access sections includes ramp access,lateral zoning access and specific access.As collector highway,this paper studies traffic organization of the first-grade highway's access,grade crossing and general highway sections.Access management aims at the control of access gap mainly.Grade crossing's traffic organization sums up he advantages and disadvantages of various traffic organization which can be used in first-grade highway's grade crossing.Through studying two kinds of general highway sections' traffic organization,this paper points out setting conditions and methods.Based on the systematic study of the functions and traffic organization of the first grade highway,this paper will provide a reference for the construction,design and management of the first grade highway.
