During the Ming and Qing dynasties,the Neo-Confucianism of the Song and Ming Dynasties was the fully developed along with the institutionalization of the imperial examination system and the utilitarian expectations of the local officials.This contributed a lot to the local support for imperial examinations,culture and education.During this period,cultural and educational buildings related to imperial examination and social education have flourished in urban construction.This has resulted in a significant increase in the status of the culture and education architecture in the urban landscape.In some local cities,it has even led to the change in order structure of the urban landscape from the dominant position of the administrative agencies to the cultural and educational buildings.A different urban landscape structure other than that of the Ming and Qing dynasties came along.We attributed this change to the “The status change of culture and education”.This article takes Yangzhou Prefectural City in Ming and Qing dynasties as the research object,after analyzing the background of culture and education's development,starting with the relevant records of the local chronicles,to discusse the changes of the Educational buildings in the position choice,its own form,the overall quantity and the scale.Different types of cultural and educational buildings include: schools,the academy,Wenchang Pavilion,Kuixing Tower,the temple,Wenfeng Pagoda,Memorial archway,and so on.At the same time,according to the regional characteristics of Yangzhou,the scope of the Educational building is further expanded,and some official and private book-engraving institutions,library buildings and private garden houses are brought into the cultural and educational architecture system,in order to systematically expound the performance of “The status change of culture and education” in Yangzhou Prefectural City during the Ming and Qing dynasties.The study found that the contents of the "school" in the local chronicles were more advanced and detailed,while the cultural and educational buildings in the city showed a more advantageous location,increasing in number and expanding in scale.The scope of the content has been expanded,and the whole has shown a trend of diversification and wide distribution.In the Ming and Qing dynasties,Yangzhou Prefectural City had a more obvious " status change of culture and education" in urban landscape.In addition,the "status change of culture and education" had a specific landscape impact on Yangzhou Prefectural City: on the one hand,in the main sequence of activities at the regional and urban levels,some educational buildings have prominent status and influence,affecting the process of people's perception of the city and interaction with the landscape.On the other hand,the educational buildings with the main body of the school,construct an important functional unit in ancient Chinese cities.The construction of other kinds of cultural and educational facilities has an important impact on the urban interior spatial form and the urban landscape pattern.Some cultural and educational elements are the visual focus of the urban and even regional landscape pattern.At the same time,it plays the dual role of "landscape" and "view",some of them even become landmarks and important public cultural exchanges,and the landscape position and landscape value are outstanding.
