With the adjustment of the industrial structure in China's construction industry and the vigorous promotion of national policies, the general contracting mode of EPC projects has been rapidly developed.Engineering general contractor as the core of EPC supply chain,Engineering general contractors and subcontractors have mastered the corresponding project and technical advantages. As a result of subcontracting, the two sides have a close dependency.Engineering general contractor and subcontractor are the participants in the downstream supply chain of EPC.The dependence between engineering general contractor and subcontractor has a significant impact on the performance of EPC supply chain cooperation.Existing research shows that inter-organizational dependency is gradually being taken as an important factor that affects the performance of inter-organizational cooperation. However, there is a lack of researches on the impact of dependency on the cooperation performance from the perspective of dependency in the engineering field. In view of this, this study draws on the existing research results of interorganizational dependencies in other organizational fields and bases on the EPC supply chain to study the mechanism of the dependence of engineering general contractors and subcontractors on the performance of EPC supply chain cooperation.First of all, through the literature review and theoretical analysis, this study proposes a series of hypotheses and forms a theoretical model for the relationship between dependency, trust and cooperation performance.Secondly, based on a large amount of literature analysis and in-depth discussion, this study designs a scale of the dependence, trust and cooperation between engineering general contractors and subcontractors based on EPC supply chain situation respectively. Finally, through the questionnaire disbursement and data collection, this study uses SPSS21.0 to test the reliability and validity of the small sample data, and removes the unqualified indicators to form a formal questionnaire. Then,we use SPSS21.0 and AMOS20.0 to analyze the data and test the hypothesis. The results of the study include:(1)The joint reliance between general contractors and subcontractors has a positive effect on the performance of EPC supply chain cooperation;(2)The asymmetric dependence between general contractor and subcontractor also has a positive effect on the cooperation performance of EPC supply chain;(3)The joint dependence and trust between engineering general contractor and sub-contractor are positively correlated;(4)Asymmetric dependence between project general contractor and subcontractor is negatively related to trust;(5)Trust has a very positive impact on EPC supply chain cooperation performance;(6)Trust has partial intermediation between joint dependence and cooperation performance of EPC supply chain, but trust has no mediating effect between asymmetric dependence and cooperation performance of EPC supply chain. The results of the study show that mutual trust and cooperation among engineering general contractors and subcontractors on the basis of their mutual resources can contribute to the success of EPC projects.By introducing interorganizational dependency into the empirical research of cooperation performance of EPC supply chain,it provides a new perspective for the research of cooperation performance in engineering project field and also provides theoretical guidance for the improvement of cooperation performance of EPC supply chain project.
