Study On Street Renewal Strategy From The Perspective Of Urban Memory

The weakening of the sense of place brought about by globalization has been particularly severe in the cities of the Three Gorges reservoir area where the human-land relationship has undergone tremendous changes.The neglect of urban memory in the process of relocation made the loss of cultural faults and traditions an urgent problem in the cultivation of spiritual culture in the post-Three Gorges era.At the same time,the improvement of public space quality and culture is an important direction for the city’s transformation and development stage.Therefore,taking the streets as the carrier,through the cultural excavation of urban memory and the reappearance of elements,the continuation of urban cultural genes and the improvement of public space quality have become urgent problems to be solved in the process of renewal of the current old city.By summarizing the existing studies of urban memory,the methods of extracting and reconstructing urban memory elements were organized and constructed.The demonstration was made with the example of Kuizhou Road in Fengjie,and the strategy of urban organic renewal under the perspective of urban memory was proposed.Among them,based on background research,literature research and case analysis,we first built a city memory reconstruction model of street space,and put forward the elements of urban memory as: main elements(subjective appeal,emotional characteristics),and object elements(cultural symbols,place functions,space Carrier),time element(time scale,important time node);urban memory composition principle is urban memory continuity,publicity of feature extraction,humanization of site creation;street city memory reconstruction approach for memory element extraction,reproduction orchestration scene,implant cultural symbols and evoke place experience.Then,taking the extraction of elements of Fengjie city memory as an example,the use of online text data,local historical documents,historical maps,and other textual interactions,using content analysis methods and historical spatial analysis methods,quantitatively analyzes the main demands and emotions of urban memories.The memory characteristics and features of features,object cultural symbols,place activities and spatial carriers,the time scale of memory in time elements and important time nodes,combined with evolution analysis,proposes the reconstruction elements of Fengjie city memory.Finally,taking the Kuizhou Road,Fengjie City Road as an example,the use of landscape narrative techniques proposed a reconstruction of the spatial sequence of streets and the continuation of urban event memory cues.Embedding urban cultural symbols,evoking the image of the city’s historical culture,catalyzing the compound function of roadways,and activating urban street remodeling strategies such as street daily sensory experiences.From the perspective of urban memory,it proposes ways to organically update streets,discusses the improvement of the quality of public space in the old city and extends the city’s local memory.This is an attempt to apply the operational mechanism of urban memory at the micro level,and it is also an active expansion of the theory of urban organic regeneration.It will help promote the construction of a sense of place for urban residents in the reservoir area,and provide theoretical and practical experience for the sustainable urban renewal.
