Jinjie Town of Shenmu County is located in the northern margin of the Loess Plateau in north Shaanxi Province and the southern margin of the Mu Us Desert where the ecological environment is fragile.It is one of the typical towns in the energy-rich areas of northern Shaanxi Province for rich coal,natural gas,petroleum and other mineral resources.In recent years,with the rapid advancement of industrialization,the total amount of construction land has risen sharply,and the contradiction between town space expansion and the ecological environment has been further highlighted.At the same time,realistic problems such as unbalanced town functional divisions,sparse network grids,and unbalanced landuse are also urgently needed to be solved.How to construct and build high-quality,high-density and high-mixed space systems compactly to meet the needs of residents' production and living to ease the contradiction between people and land is particularly urgent for the sustainable development of the town space in Jinjie.This paper takes Jinjie town as the research object,and the research contents include four parts: background interpretation,feature analysis,spatial configuration and pattern extraction.The first part is background interpretation.It mainly covers the research background,theoretical basis,research objects and concepts,as well as related research summaries.The second part is the analysis of spatial characteristics.Based on the analysis of the physical geography,socio-economic and population development of Jinjie,the evolution of spatial boundaries,functional zoning,road network bureaus,and land use are qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed,and the spatial layout features and issues of Jinjie town are summarized.The third part is mainly spatial configuration study.Firstly,adopt the “rigidity + elasticity” concept with the land suitability assessmentmodel and the traffic expansion rate model comprehensively demarcate the urban space-land boundary and divide the four districts.Secondly,based on the analysis of the influence factors of the functional zoning,the principles of zoning configuration such as dynamics,integrity,ecology,and compactness are put forward.By comparing comprehensively among the multi-center uniaxial agglomeration,multi-center biaxial driven,and multi-center modes,decide the more compact centers as the appropriate mode,and construct a "four-center,four-area" town functional zoning model.Then,on the basis of analyzing the real problems of road grid,the simulation principles of suitable scale,group optimization,and respect for the status quo are put forward.The dichotomy method is used to construct high-density,medium-density,and low-density multi-situation road grid schemes.By solving the best road network scales,the medium-density road network grid scenario plan is selected,and the “seven horizontal and nine vertical” road grid bureaus is constructed.Finally,Considering job-housing balance,puts forward layout principles such as livable safety,vitality and efficiency,pleasant scale,agglomeration development,circular economy etc.,and divides the compact living area,and put forward the cluster,gallery,and ring layout patterns in the layout of the living blocks.In order to organize the industrial chain,three layout models such as block hybrid,rank serial,and group centralized are proposed in the layout of production unit land.At the same time,based on the PSPL survey and line segment model,according to the needs of residents and behavioral characteristics,discuss in depth the layout of land for town use such as core functional land,commercial function land,primary and middle school and other important facilities land,park green space,etc.The fourth part mainly refines the spatial layout model.From space layout optimization,land-saving inspection,and model summaries,the optimization-test-summary system analysis method is adopted.On the basis of reviewing the overall plan of the previous edition,the optimization strategies are proposed from the aspects of spatial boundaries,functional zoning,road grid offices,land use,etc.,and comparative analysis and verification are conducted.The spatial layout patterns and characteristics of Jinjie town are refined and summarized.This paper aims to economize on land use,and carries out model refinement in terms of boundary demarcation,zoning configuration,road network organization,landuse layout,etc.,sums up Jinjie Town's spatial layout and land saving mode to conserve space in Jinjie town's space layout,and provides lessons for the compact and intensive development of small towns in northern Shaanxi province and even the northwest China.
