Research On The Design Method Of Living Street Space Based On Genius Loci Theory

The ordinary street usually has unique and unforgettable place-sense in the daily life,but the living street that becomes lost space in unprotected area is often ignored by the theoretical research or design practice.First of all,this paper elaborates the origin and meaning of Genius Loci theory,and then observes and analyzes the condition of space and landscape characteristics in living street in central Beijing in three aspects,including traditional streets,unprotected ordinary street,street place in modern residential,to explore the expressing situation of place-sense and common problem in living street.The paper takes Qingniangou road in Hepingli area as the research object and analyzes in detail its historical evolution,space environment,place characteristic,successful experiences of creating space environment and current problems based on Genius Loci theory,to summarize the inspiration of space design in attractively living street which involves improving the quality of walking space environment and the acceptance of the street space,providing basic public space to form a good place-sense;paying attention to the landscape construction;enriching the type of street life,improving street vitality;at the same time,paying attention to the influence in the process of urban renewal.Based on the research of Qingniangou road combined with relevant research and other similar cases,the paper sums up four means of expression of the spirit of place in living street.Strategy 1: set up the people-oriented awareness;strategy 2: pay attention to public space design and optimize the experience of pedestrian spaces;strategy 3: create rich frontage landscape and establish comprehensive street;strategy 4: focus on the evolution of place characteristics and the space design moving with the times.The paper takes the ordinary street as the research object for the purpose of expression of the spirit of place and has reference meaning of reconstruction and improving the quality of urban street space;the study of ordinary street will also have a certain practical value under the background of urban renewal.
