With stand-alone and local area network as main experimental types, traditional mechanical virtual simulation experiments are unavailable for network transmission and inferior for running. In order to change this situation and solve problems concerning the compatibility, applicability, safety and user experience of the virtual simulation experiment, this paper proposes a HTML5-based development technique for virtual simulation experiments in mechanical courses which can be published on the Web server, thus realizing the digital publication of virtual simulation experiments on Internet.Main contents of this paper are as follows:First of all,it proposes a HTML5-based simulation experiment architecture integrating with the display and control function of 2D virtual instrument and 3D CAD virtual mechanical model. This architecture achieves the organic integration of 3D CAD mechanical model operation and interface operation of 2D virtual instrument in the browser, which fulfills the demand for virtual simulation experiments on Internet in mechanical courses.Secondly,it designs a transition method from real mechanical devices to 3D CAD mechanical models on network, and enables the display and control of mechanical devices in the browser.Main works in this part are the realization of 3D CAD modeling of real mechanical devices, display of CAD models in the browser and interaction control of 3D CAD models via a mouse.Thirdly,it designs a reconfigurable virtual experiment platform based on HTML5,which constructs the test and analysis interface for virtual simulation experiments by graphical operation or script.Main works include the assembly of responsive virtual components, running architecture, virtual instrument components, virtual mechanical components and assembly description language based on JSON.Lastly, virtual simulation experiments have been developed for two courses,i.e.Measurement Techniques of Mechanic Engineering and Control Techniques of Mechanic Engineering. All the 12 virtual simulation experiments assembled with this technique have been tested on the Web server with promising results.Besides for the discipline of mechanics, the HML5-based virtual simulation experiment technique integrating the virtual instrument function with 3D CAD display function can be broadly applied to the development of other virtual simulation experiments on network. The feasibility and applicability of this technique have been verified by the virtual simulation experiments developed for the courses,i.e.Measurement Techniques of Mechanic Engineering and Control Techniques of Mechanic Engineering.
