With the national energy saving task is proposed,the energy consumption gets more and more attention.The belt conveyor system is the world’s cost-effective bulk solid material handling system.Due to the huge number of its material handling,such problems as the efficiency,life,running stability,energy consumption and cost of a belt conveyor system,have got a lot of attention.A conveyor generally operates at a constant speed when delivering materials.But the imbalance of bulk transporting has caused problems such as light load operation,lower efficiency & higher power consumption,thus will increase the production costs.Therefore,it has very important values both of economic and social to approach the adaptive frequency conveyor control system.Considering such existing problems at present as insufficient protection of material load status,and low control security,etc.,this thesis analyze the energy consumption law of a belt conveyor and its influential factors,researches bulk material flow measurement based on laser scanning technology,speed control and simulation.It will contribute to improving the speed regulation control security and scientific level of a belt conveyor.The major research work is included as follows.First of all,the structure and operation characteristics are analyzed deeply,and the relationship between the energy consumption and both delivering quantity and belt speed is approached.According to the requirements of the belt speed regulation control,frequency control technique for belt conveyors is investigated.Employing automatic techniques and intelligent control theories comprehensively,energy saving problems resulted from bulk transporting quantity fluctuation are studied.The relationship between the energy consumption and the delivering quantity,belt speed and operating time is established based on the field operating data,and the parameters for this model are optimized,thus the optimum matching relationship between the bulk transporting quantity and belt speed.Based on this,the design goal and general structure of the speed control system under the energy consumption constraints are put forward.Next,a testing hardware platform for belt conveyor speed control systems is designed,as well as components selected.The corresponding interface circuits are designed,including belt speed inspecting,rotating moment and power detecting circuits.Therefore,the testing platform is constructed.Following this,The control functions for the belt speed control system are analyzed thoroughly,and corresponding general software structure and functions are put forward.The corresponding software modules are designed,and an algorithm for belt speed control based on PID under energy consumption constraints is put forward.Finally,a number of tests are carried out on the testing platform,and the testing results are analyzed and discussed.Testing results show the validity of the methods and the system put forward in this thesis.
