Research On Modern Port Trade In WuHu(1877-1937)

The Qing government signed the "Yantai Treaty" with the United Kingdom in 1876,agreed to additional Wuhu for the trading port,the second year of Wuhu official foreign opening trade.After opening the port,Wuhu not only made progress on foreign trade,but also had an important influence on its own development and hinterland area.Through investigating the Wuhu Customs Trade report,this paper analyzes the changes of the import and export trade of Wuhu port in the decades after its opening,and probes into the reasons for the change of the Wuhu port trade.Based on this,the paper further analyzes the quantity and commodity structure of the import and export trade of Wuhu port.As one of the China’s trade ports,the open trade port of the Yangtze River basin in modern times has made a commercial relationship with other river ports,analyzing and comparing the trade between Wuhu and Jiujiang and Shanghai,and further understanding the port function of Wuhu.The analysis of the trade interaction between Wuhu and the hinterland will further dialysis the foreign trade of Wuhu port.The full text first is the introduction,mainly discusses the topic reason,the research significance,the research method and the research summary and so on.The first chapter is an introduction to the modern Wuhu port trade.In order to have a more comprehensive understanding of the foreign trade of Wuhu port in modern times,this part will Wuhu the foreign trade before the opening of the ports,and focus on the foreign trade situation after the opening of the ports in Wuhu.With the support of trade data,we can analyze the annual change of the total trade volume of Wuhu port and discuss its influencing factors.Chapter two analyzes the data and structure of the import and export trade of Wuhu port.The main is to separate the import and export,in a series of data graphs supported by the summary of Wuhu port import and export trade characteristics.The third chapter discusses the trade interaction between Wuhu and the Yangtze River Valley port,taking Shanghai and Jiujiang as examples.The trade interaction between Wuhu and Jiujiang and Shanghai is analyzed by means of comparison.Because Shanghai is the leader of modern port trade,the port status of Wuhu can not be compared with it.Jiujiang and Wuhu in all aspects of the conditions are very similar,so the choice of Jiujiang and Shanghai compared with Wuhu,can see the different ports of trade interaction.The fourth chapter is the trade and social change of the port of Wuhu.The development of foreign trade will bring about change to Wuhu society,Wuhu Modern shipping industry,railway transportation,new telecommunication industry and modern industry are the main embodiment of social change.The fifth chapter is the trade interaction between Wuhu port and hinterland.Hinterland is particularly important to the development of port foreign trade,by enumerating the main import commodities of Wuhu port and the main export commodities of rice,to explore the hinterland of Wuhu port and the relationship between hinterland and port.
