The Research On The Doors And Windows Of The Salar Traditional Dwellings In Qinghai

The Salars is one of the few immigrants in China,which is concentrated in Xunhua County,Qinghai.It is influenced by the culture of the surrounding Tibetans,Han and Hui and other cultures.It has great regional adaptability and cultural vitality.It is a part of the excellent cultural heritage of the Chinese nation and has great research value.Doors and windows are the most typical parts of the village and courtyard.Gate is the main constituent factor of the street space and is the essence of the construction.Door and window are main display parts of buildings.Along with the era changing,new materials and new technologies keep flowing into rural areas,which results in contradiction of the development of traditional doors and windows.It has become an inevitable problem that we must consider that how to activate the rational heritage and update of these doors and windows during the protection and development of the traditional villages.This paper mainly seeks to 1)Improve research materials of Salar traditional residential buildings through the research on their doors and windows;2)From the perspective of architecture,analyze types,constructive logic and decorative art of doors and windows of Salar traditional residential buildings,summarize the craftsmanship,fill the gap of the theoretical research on the construction of doors and windows;3)Provide practical strategy and method guidance on the protection and development of doors and windows of Salar traditional residential buildings.The paper divides the research object into three parts.The first part(Chapter II)teases out the background of formation of Salar traditional residential buildings in Qinghai based on documents.The second part(Chapter III-IV)categorizes the doors and windows,analyzes the space functionalities,constructive logic,decorative art and craftsmanship,provides theoretical basis of the protection and update strategy,using the methods of documentary,field demonstration and analytic induction.Starting with the status quo of doors and windows of Salar residential buildings,the third part(Chapter V)analyzes their current problems and the reasons causing them,summarizes their protection and the heritage value,proposes the conservation and inheritance strategy of traditional technologies,as well as the update strategy conforming the local characteristic culture,and finally explores new designs with new materials and technologies.The paper concludes that,doors and windows of Salar traditional residential buildings are essence of their settlements and buildings,with high conservation and heritage value.The constructive logic of doors and windows of traditional villages should be referenced during their protection and construction,combining the traditional constructive wisdom with the contemporary life,in order to exert the local resource advantage and to build appropriate update strategy.
