With compulsory education carried out all over the country,the level of basic education has been largely improved,which means a new stage about innovation and development of basic education is coming.Nowadays,traditional education pattern appears to be inflexible and backward,and quality education,which pays more attention to proactive learning and creative learning,has become the most important theme of education reform.Teaching activities are no longer confined to standardized traditional classrooms,while open space,for its flexibility and openness,makes it possible that open teaching can be put into effect and students' extracurricular life becomes more colorful.Based on behavior and psychological characteristics of elementary and secondary school students,this paper starts with demand analysis and theoretical generalization,and thenstudies on several common forms of open space combining with cases.From above procedures,this paper concludes general design methods of open space,and finally puts these methods into practice.Firstly,this paper elaborates research background and significance,introduces the relevant research results at home and abroad,put forward the objectives,ideas and methods of this research,and establishes the framework of the paper.Then,it briefly introduces the development course of the reform of elementary and secondary school buildings and education in China and abroad,expatiates on the development status of compulsory education,and points out the demand of architectural space environment of Elementary and secondary schools in new period.After that,through the study on behavior and psychological characteristics of elementary and secondary school students,this paper obtains the requirements adapted to open space design,and summarizes the principles of open space design for city elementary and secondary schools furtherly.On the basis of theoretical research,the article studies onopen space design in several specific types.A few successful cases are used to explore the detailed design methods about these typies,which includes courtyard and its continuity space,plane open traffic space,vertical open traffic space,roof open space and stilt floor and so on,and the main contents discussed on them are organization and layout of open space,diversity design,restriction and interface design,site and function design and landscape design.Finally,the author put theory into practice,applying the principles and methodssummarized foreword to analyze Shenzhen Longyuan school,which the author has been involved in.
