With the increase in the number of elderly people in the country,industries related to elderly gradually become prosperous.With rapid development of science and technology,it is surely that intellectual products for the elderly will become a trend.Based on this background and consumer subconsciousness analysis methods,this paper explored the perceptual intentions and specific intentions of the elderly through two methods,and then a consensus mental model diagram was built,analyzed and converted into the actual design direction to for the future design,providing a more scientific and objective design concept,which is different from the situation in the past that the designer decided the design by personal cultivation and experiences.This paper combined the principle of “ stimulation and response ” and used divergence methods and visual stimulation methods to dig out the potential needs of older people,and proposed an analysis and research method that is suitable for designer to explore the potential needs of customers.This paper used smart mobile phones for the elderly as targeted products to test the feasibility of the method.Firstly,stimulating tools were made according to information obtained through questionnaires and observation methods.Secondly,users with high involvement of the products were deeply interviewed,attempting to stimulating them to express their hidden sentimental intentions and specific intentions.These intentions include not only the appearance but also the functional entertainment etc.Finally,these intentions were converted into actual design directions so as to propose appropriate opinions to meet demands on these products.Designers used the appropriate opinions as a creative basis in the early stage of smart phone design and provide design improvement solutions,which also verifies the feasibility of the method.This paper selected newer research methods and establishes a relatively complete mental model for older people to use smart products.This will increase the usability and ease of use of the products,making the products more in line with the needs of users,which is a basis for designing the product in a humanized manner,and is unavailable from conventional research methods.
