With the development of technology,the concept of full automation driverless car has become to reality and is about to be put into commercial application.The application of fully autonomous driving technology will change the relationship between user and vehicle.For such reason,the full automation driverless car needs a new type of interface to fit this new man-vehicle relationship.Nowadays,the biggest block of full automation driverless car commercialization is the user distrust the safety and reliability of the autonomous driving technology.The acceptability of full automation driverless car is very low.But the interface can be a bridge and fill the communication gap between users and vehicle,help the user build trust with automation driverless car.This is the starting point of this thesis.In this thesis,the author focus on concept design the interface of full automation driverless car.Using the interface to build trust between the user and the vehicle,and create a safe and convenient experience for the user.Firstly,the author has researched the course and trends of the full automation driverless car and its manmachine interface,analyzed the block of full automation driverless car commercialization and the meaning of interface for the vehicle.Based on the analysis,the author raised the design background,design objectives and design direction.Secondly,the author used questionnaire survey,user interview and user observation to gather the mental information of users,and built the accurate user mental model.Using the user mental model as the foundation and guidance of the whole design process.Thirdly,the author researched user mental information of the interface information architecture through card sorting and cluster analysis.Then,designed the information architecture based on the user mental information.Fourthly,according to the design objectives,user mental model and information architecture,aiming at reduce cognitive load of the user,the author designed the information layout and visual elements of the interface.Then the author used the survey to evaluated the cognition effect of these elements.In the end,the author designed 16 representative interfaces in the high-fidelity way.The 16 representative interfaces were divided into three groups according to the three phases of the driving task.The author also used the survey to evaluated the cognition effect of these 16 interfaces.The evaluation results proofed the rationality of the concept design of the full automation driverless vehicle interface.This thesis based on user mental model to design the interface of full automation driverless vehicle,and applied the AR-HUD display system to the concept design.The research content of this thesis provides some reference for the future research on the vehicle interface.The design solution provides direction value for the development of driverless vehicle.
