Research On Air Transportation Industry Organization In China Based On SCP Paradigm

Civil aviation industry is an important part of transportation industry in China,which promotes economy growth.Studying the questions such as whether monopoly and competition of Chinese civil aviation industry is balanced,whether resource allocation is appropriate,whether market competition behavior of airline is standard is meaningful to promote sustainable development of civil aviation industry in China.From the perspective of regulation,this thesis systematically analyzes Chinese civil aviation industry’s regulation,market structure,market conduct,market performance and their correlation based on the R-SCP framework.Contents are as follows: firstly,this thesis qualitatively analyzes the development of regulation from the aspects of entry regulation,price regulation and property right regulation,then the regulation index is assigned according to the relaxation of regulation;Quantitatively analyzing the market structure based on CRn and HHI,which concludes that market structure is oligopoly,and then analyzing its macroscopic and microcosmic reasons;Qualitatively analyzing the market conduct from price behavior,airline merger behavior,product differentiation behavior,frequent flyer program behavior and alliance behavior.Secondly,this thesis analyzes the market performance based on the single factor analysis method and the frontier analysis method.Using the total turnover volume,market fare,profit margin,flight punctuality rate to measure the market performance,and evaluating the efficiency of civil aviation industry and airline based on DEA method.Thirdly,constructing the multiple linear regression model and using the OLS method to estimate it,the relationship between the internal factors of R-SCP framework is studied from theoretical hypothesis and empirical test.This thesis creatively introduces the regulation into the SCP paradigm,and then studies the civil aviation industry organization based on R-SCP framework,which is significant to improve the market performance of civil aviation and the efficiency of airline in China.Similarly,other natural monopoly industry can use it to study its industry organization.
