With the further advancement of global trade integration, the civil aviation transportation industry has become an important part of the national economy.China's civil aviation transportation turnover and passenger rate have been the second in the world for 14 consecutive years.Under the impacts of the international financial crisis, the European debt crisis and the fluctuation of oil prices,China's civil aviation industry is along with the social and economic development;actively adjusts its development mode and its economic structure and exerts its efforts. The three major indicators of air transportation have maintained sustained and rapid growth. It makes it to be the second largest air transportation system in the world just after the United States. In 2017,the total transportation turnover and passenger transportation volume of the whole industry increased by 12.5% and 12.5% respectively year-on-year,while the global average annual growth rate of civil aviation increased by 4.7% and 4.6% respectively.Once again China's civil aviation made the development of the air transportation industry around the world with "China speed".Although the internationalization of China's civil aviation industry is developing rapidly, its international level competitiveness still has a noticeable gap compared with other civil aviation powers,in particular, compared with the large international airlines such as Lufthansa and Southwest Airlines, which have a large share of the international market. Now,the global "open skies" is a tendency. How to stand firmly in the much more intense international market, and improve its international industrial competitiveness constantly become more important for China's civil aviation industry.China can really gain a foothold in the international transportation market from civil aviation. The transformation from big power to civil aviation power has become an urgent problem. This paper adopts the qualitative research methodology case study method. The research framework is built on the theory of Porter's industrial competitiveness.Based on the “five-force model” analysis tool of industrial competitiveness,Air China is as the case of Chinese civil aviation transportation industry. It is selected as a case study to analyze and evaluate the factors affecting its industrial competitiveness. We analyze and explore the competitiveness of Chinese International Airlines in order to promote the development of Air China and enhance the competitiveness of Chinese civil aviation transportation industry.Through the research and analysis, this article finds that if the Chinese civil aviation transportation industry can be survived and developed in the fierce international environment increasingly,it must strengthen the industrial layout, implement safety supervision, allocate resources rationally, improve industrial layout and market layout continuously. The level of human resources makes it more competitive in the international arena, thus it is very important to achieve the sustainable development of Chinese civil aviation industry.
