China has rich mineral resources and a large number of tailings ponds.The tailings ponds are man-made dangerous pollution source with high potential energy.The number of tailings ponds built in China is 12,000,of which about 87% of the total are small and medium-sized ones,and 1,451 seats are very dangerous.The dam accident accounted for about 55% of the total number of accidents.In recent years,there have been more than 90 accidents in tailings ponds in China,causing more than 500 deaths.Aiming at the poor situation of China's tailings reservoir security,this paper combines the physical model test and numerical simulation,study the law of the collapse of the tailings reservoir under complex terrain conditions,focusing on the location of the collapse.destruction process and flow change,the evolution process of dam break tail debris flow and its impact on downstream villages,provide targeted recommendations for the design of tailings ponds and the relocation of downstream villages.The tailings reservoir accident monitoring and warning technology and engineering protection measures are proposed to improve the safety guarantee capability of the tailings pond.The main research contents are:(1)Introduce the production process of the tailings pond model.It mainly includes the similarity of water flow movement,the broken-process of embankment,the selection of model sand and experimental instruments,and the construction of physical models.(2)Analysis the process and result of the model test of tailings dam break.Analyze the shape of the collapsed dam and the amount of tailings and the peak of the dam break,and the time when the flood peak reaches the sensitive target.The depth of flooding along the downstream of the dam-breaking flood and the depth of the sedimentary tailings are evaluated,access the extent of damage to downstream villages.(3)Numerical simulation of RAMMS tailings debris flow.The content includes the DEM model of the tailings pond,the selection and correction of the friction parameters and the sedimentary depth,analysis the flow velocity and maximum evolution of the tailings dam.Comparing the results of tailings dam-break model test and numerical simulation,analysis the damage extent and deposition distribution of the tailings dam.(4)Introduce the application of information technology to preventing the dam-breaking debris flow.Analyze the accident risk of tailings pond,draw the disaster risk diagram of tailings dam break,put forward suggestions for engineering protection,and give suggestions on the safety design and management of tailings pond.
